Question about Pentax K100D Digital Camera

K100D Problem When I turn the camera on, it shows full battery.  I have attempted to take a picture and all the camera does is click as if it is taking photos.  This continues until i remove the lens and replace it.  Within seconds it goes back to the clicking.  What could be the problem?

I've was having the same problem off and on for past 3 months--I thought I had somehow damaged the camera. This is what I did to fix the problem: remove the lens and while looking at the camera from the front, locate the silver vertical pin on the lift side of the camera, just inside of the silver lens mounting ring. And lightly slide the black plastic piece which is on the silver vertical pin downward. My guess is that when removing and replacing a lens, this apparatus may come misplaced. Good luck--Jeff

Remove lens, locate silver vertical pin inside of mounting ring on left side as you are looking at camera. Lightly slide black plastic piece which is on the vertical pin downward; if it will go downward remount lens and try camera. If plastic piece will not go down, lightly slide it up and then down and now remount lens and try camera. My guess is that either that component is sometimes stuck or that it may have become mispositioned while removing and replacing a lens.

I'm experiencing the same problem. It will take one photo and then start clicking (opening/closing the shutter). After that the viewfinder is blacked out and the aperture on the lens is not fully reopened. I recently sent it back to Pentax for repairs (under warranty). After a week, I called the service dept and they said there was no problems and everything was "within factory limits". I got my camera back the same day of the call. I doubt they did a vigorous examination of the problem. Taking a closer look at the shutter "thingy" inside the camera, it looks like it's not clearing the lens after a shot. Planning on taking it to Ritz Camera and trying another lens to see if that will help. Will keep you posted. Good luck!

Does it actually take photos? If so it sounds like some thing is stuck under the shutter button. Check that there is not some sticky sandwhich filling that is obvious... Suggest a professional clean .
Good luck

Picture is not displaying on sony dsc-hx1

Talking about two camera's my guess is you made a picture with a Pentax K100D and you put it on the memory card in a Sony dsc-hx1.
In the manual the Sony tells what sizes of pictures it can display. None of the 4 sizes the Pentax K100D makes, is in that list.
Perhaps you don't mean this, please let me know.

Why can't i see what i am taking a picture of by the lcd screen?

That feature is called "Live View". The K100D camera does not support that feature.

I have a Pentax K100D and occasionaly when I push to button to take a picture it does not work. I have to turn off the camera and then try it again. It is in Auto mode. Is this a "fixable issue"...

When this happens, does the battery indicator show no battery power? If so, this is a common issue and most owners check the battery indicator first before snapping and if it shows empty, they do the "turn off/on" routine. The newer cameras (K7, Kx, Kr,K5) do not seem to have this problem.

Pentax K100 Super D clicks, but no pictures.

Hate to say it, but it's dead. My Pentax K100 D Super did the same thing. Took it to the local camera shop. They scratched their heads and sent the body to Pentax. The reply that came back was that the circuit board was completely fried and it would cost more to fix than it would to buy a new body.

I was out of luck because the warranty was out (had it a year and a half), but with yours being less than a year, you should be able to get a new body without having to shell out $$$.

Pentax K100D will not power up

First make sure you are using fresh lithium batteries. These cameras indicate low batteries quite early on. Rechargeables even when freshly charged are marginal.

If the problem persists remove the batteries. Set the camera switch to the off position. Set the focus switch to manual. Wait at least a minute. Then replace the batteries and switch on again.

Operating with low batteries can confuse the firmware and it may be stuck in a low-battery loop. If this is the case this should reset the camera by allowing the electronics to power-down completely.

If this does not work you wiil have to contact pentax support.
