When I turn the camera on, it shows full battery. I have attempted to take a picture and all the camera does is click as if it is taking photos. This continues until i remove the lens and replace it. Within seconds it goes back to the clicking. What could be the problem?

- yes, it takes pictures. it just takes some time to get it going. once i do (get it unstuck) it works well.
-   I've was having the same problem off and on for past 3 months--I thought I had somehow damaged the camera. This is what I did to fix the problem: remove the lens and while looking at the camera from the front, locate the silver vertical pin on the lift side of the camera, just inside of the silver lens mounting ring. And lightly slide the black plastic piece which is on the silver vertical pin downward. My guess is that when removing and replacing a lens, this apparatus may come misplaced. Good luck--Jeff-   Guest
I'm experiencing the same problem. It will take one photo and then start clicking (opening/closing the shutter). After that the viewfinder is blacked out and the aperture on the lens is not fully reopened. I recently sent it back to Pentax for repairs (under warranty). After a week, I called the service dept and they said there was no problems and everything was "within factory limits". I got my camera back the same day of the call. I doubt they did a vigorous examination of the problem. Taking a closer look at the shutter "thingy" inside the camera, it looks like it's not clearing the lens after a shot. Planning on taking it to Ritz Camera and trying another lens to see if that will help. Will keep you posted. Good luck!
Does it actually take photos? If so it sounds like some thing is stuck under the shutter button. Check that there is not some sticky sandwhich filling that is obvious... Suggest a professional clean .
Good luck
Remove lens, locate silver vertical pin inside of mounting ring on left side as you are looking at camera. Lightly slide black plastic piece which is on the vertical pin downward; if it will go downward remount lens and try camera. If plastic piece will not go down, lightly slide it up and then down and now remount lens and try camera. My guess is that either that component is sometimes stuck or that it may have become mispositioned while removing and replacing a lens.

I have a problem with my PENTAX k100 camera: when I turn it on, it doesn't take any pictures. The objective moves and on the screen it can be seen that the camera focuses on a target, however there is no click sound and it doesn't take any pictures. what could the problem be since the camera is charged sufficiently and there has an empty memory? It doesn't take any pictures on any mode (for example automatic). Thanks for your help!
