If you get a blue screen when it's on, try feeding in an external audio and video source, like a camcorder or VCR, and see if it displays. Check setup or input selection. If it's set to video or HDMI source and nothing is plugged in, you'd get a blue screen.

SOURCE: LG plasma have an amber light when turning on then green then red

After all the research I found out that the IC on the Z board is bad and new board was ordered and replaced. The plasma work fine after that and picture is excellent with the new board. This forum is great, without this I couldn't fix it myself. Thank you.

SOURCE: I have a Zenith 50PC3DB-UE

The sustain boards are the most likely source of the problem. Its the buffer boards that should be tested first. It seems like I do not have the service manual for this model. If you can upload it to mediafire.com and get me the link to the file, I will have a look and break it down for you.

Did it work with the Y-sustain board replaced? Likely if it did not work then there is an issue with the capacitors on the Y-sustain board and the power board. Check these caps for failure and replace them with the exact type. Likely the caps are blown and cause voltage loss in one or both boards.

Usually, when you replace Y-sustain board, for older plasma, they suggest to replace both Ydrive board (up and low). And sometimes, Z-sustaint.

Im not sure your are an expertise in this matter so be very careful when you open a TV because hasardous voltages can kill you in the worst escenario.

If you are not, don't work on your TV. It will be your sole responsibility.

Check ships on Y drive board (both board are installed on the right side of Y-sustain. They have square black ships that used to get bad. If they don't have aluminum cooler on them, you can see if they are burned or have holes on them. Old plasmas use to have issues with those boards. Before you installed the Y Sustain you should check Ydrive boards. Maybe you damage the Y Sustain because the Y drives weren't good.

Try to replace the fuse, disconnect the Ydrive from Y Sustain, turn on TV and check for voltages on Y sustain (panel has a sticker with each voltage). Hope you didn't damage Y sustain and can find Ydrive board to fix your TV.

And REMEMBER, you can kill yourself when you work on TVs.

TV is dead. Power light is not illuminated. Checked all plugs and outlets.

It sounds like your power supply has failed. This could be caused by bad capacitors in the power supply itself, or it could be caused by some other circuit board, likely the Y-sustain or Z-sustain board, or both.

This solution assumes you feel comfortable working on the tv yourself - if not, it will need to be fixed by a service technician.

Begin by removing the back cover. You'll need to take out all the screws that have an arrow pointing at them. You'll only need to remove the large cover, not the smaller one where the audio/video connections are located. Put the screws in a plastic sandwich bag so they don't get lost.

The power supply board is in the center top area. Check the tops of all the capacitors. They should all be flat. If any of them are bowed out or deformed then you have a bad power supply board that will need to be replaced, or replace the caps if you're capable. If the caps look ok then check the fuse at the bottom right of the power supply board. Go to the appropriate paragraph below.

1) IF THE FUSE IS GOOD: you likely have a problem with one of the sustain boards. Unplug the connectors on the Y Sustain (Ysus) that sit between the two fuses. Plug in the tv and see if the power supply board comes up. If it does you'll hear a click and see the green light on the front begin flashing. This indicates one or both of the sustain boards has failed.

To determine which board has failed, reconnect the Ysus connector from the power supply and disconnect the connector at the top left of the Zsus board. Try turning on the tv. If the power supply comes up then you have a problem with the Zsus board. If it doesn't come up you have a problem with the Ysus board and/or the Zsus board. The power for the Zsus board is routed through the Ysus board, so if the Ysus board is bad you won't be able to check the Zsus board.

Many blogs recommend replacing both if one is bad because they're both high failure items, and replacing one without the other means you may have to go back and replace the other after a short while.

2) IF THE FUSE IS BAD: You may have a problem with the power supply board. Check the caps for any deformed tops. If so, you'll have to replace the board or the caps, depending on your skill level. After making the replacement, disconnect the power to the Ysus and verify you have a good power supply board.

Have a vizio 47" vo47lfhdtv10a,

Hi,

Problem is in either power supply or the Y-Sustain board.

The Y-Sustain is a relatively large board out of which go connections to the side of the display; it's therefore closer to either the left or the right side of the display, has at least one rather large heat sink on it and fat power cables connecting it to the main power supply.

Often there are fuses on that board - one or more. Check those.

if they are blown you can try to replace them, but expect them to blow again - usually the whole board needs to be replaced.

Hope this helpout in solving the problem...

No picture when turned on

Hello,
All you have to do is to open the television to troubleshoot and replace faulty component.
The problem is the from the Y sustain board,However normally they have to change both Y sustain and Z sustain boards at the same time. But before you remove for replacement, check fuses on the Y sustain board, the fuses might be blown or the panel is having a dry joint, if the found a dry soldering resolder to keep your TV going......

With this, the problem of the television will be solved

My plasma tv has just lost it's picture. I do have

There will be a fault in either the Y or Z sustain boards, these are responsible for driving the screen 9hence sound but no picture). The popping sound willhave either been a fuse blowing on the board or another possibility is one of the drive ICs on the buffer board has blown. If so it's best to replace the board.

This condition, sound no picture, is generally a result from a failed y-sustain and/or x-sustain board. You can check the fuse for continuity or resistance using a multimeter. I am helping someone repair their LG 42pc3d, that's why I thought I'd help you out too.

With no picture but only sound on my Akai PDP 4294

Try replacing the Y-sustain board. Might have to replace buffers attached to it too. Have you had it diagnosed? My picture went out and I replaced the power supply board. Worked for 2 weeks then acted up again. Got a different power supply board. Same thing 2 weeks later. Was told it now was a bad Y-sustain board. Replaced y-sustain board. Worked OK for about 2 hours then started having picture issues. Not the same issues before power supply or y-sustain problem. Was told that you might have to replace buffers attached to y-sustain when you replace y-sustain. Tired of dealing with it and only watch a couple hours a day, so I don't always have the problem unless I watch the TV for a long time. Will eventually replace buffers to see if that works. I would definitely find a place that gives free estimates or close to free to get a technician diagnosis. Then you can decide if you are able to do the work yourself.

Visio 42 in Plasma turns on but no picture

Just had the same problem and determined it was the primary power supply board. The TV has a primary and secondary power supply. The secondary controls the on/off and audio. The primary controls the picture. If this is shot, you will not get a picture but will hear audio. I had to call Vizio and have them send me a new power supply board ($150 + SH). Not too hard to install yourself. Hpe this helps!
