sounds like the new used one is bad too. The only thing that regulates voltage is the rectifier.

It takes a 12 volt YB14L-A2 battery, which is large by modern *** motorcycle standards. There should be a 20 amp in -line fuse on the the small wire attached to the main battery positive wire. Blacked? Is that computer geek terminology?

Use 10w40 in the gearbox. DO NOT use a synthetic lubricant or any oil with "Special" additives. They can mess up the clutch. Any national brand motor oil will do.
