Re: samsung YP-K5 MP3
Either the device is bad, the pc port is bad, or the software is faulty. Try connecting to different usb port, then a usb port on a different pc with a compatible os. If still not recognized, then there is physical damage to player.
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware. Wizard

Hi go to---
Open up your windows media player on your computer and select the sync tab on the upper righthand side .Plug In your MP3 Player and now It should be recognized there on the right pane window when you use the sync feature on windows media player !! Drag your music files from your library to this area and they should sync to your player using the button in the lower right hand corner area . I believe it will say sync or sync device !! Rock and Roll Swampratt200 AAAAEEE!!!!!!!
IN ORDER TO TURN ON UR SAMSUNG MP3 HOLD UP SO SCREEN IS FACING U,ON THE BOTTOM SIDE IS A BUTTON SAYING HOLD ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE,SLIDE BUTTON ACROSS TO THE RIGHT HAND SIDE.THEN ON THE TOP OF THE MP3 ALSO ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE ARE 2 BUTTONS,PUSH AND HOLD IN THE 2ND,UNTIL SAMSUNG LOGO POPS UP ON SCREEN.
I had the same problem. First disconnect the mp3 player from your computer. Then go into the control panel, select the system icon, go to the device manager tab, and then find the Samsung K5 driver. Right click on it and select uninstall. Now reconnect your mp3 player. That should do the trick. Somehow the driver file got corrupted and wasn't letting the k5 charge.
Its not your fault, of course. However, it'd help if you try reformatting the device. If not, even upgrade the YP-K3 into a new firmware. (Go to samsungplay.com, and download the newer firmware there. The firmware is new if the number of the version is higher than yours). It may help. If the problem persists, i'll try to find other ways to tackle this problem.
