Hi Alex,

I would appreciate your solution as one which I was wanting to get. I was battling with my board with same chipsetr features. My motherboard with 81845-GV chipset faced the same issue suddenly. When I boot up the system light powers on but no display nor any beep. sounds bad. I have no idea whether it isa board or a processor as I tried the SMPS with other pc which worksfine and even checked the voltage output of the smpswith a multimeter. still with the board and cpu no idea how to check it.Moreover the graphic card and pcicard are inbuilt. I am just a novice on these but i managed to check some. The url which you have given will be very helpful for novice engines like me.

Thankyou in advance.
But dont stop your replies it may be helpful to many like me

My friend is having MB - intel 845gvsr
till yesterday it was working fine BUT after a sudden power loss it stopped working
There's no display in the moniter. Not even the bios CP

When the power is supplied to the CPU the processor fan is working fine
No beeps,CD ROM /Tray etc are working fine
If BOTH the 256mb ram module is removed then it is giving the beep signal So there's no problem with the BIOS

So where is the problem ?

90% in d845gvsr cpu dry problem , when we press fan after that swicth on the system may be it's giving display solution is bake cpu socket at 200 digree C, after it's working fine otherwise there is no solution. cpu socket problem like hang, restart, some time display , just bake the cpu socket with hot air gun or bga machine,

Then go ahead and make your own post for this particular device so that it can be answered appropriately.

Here we either answer for money or ratings. We can't get ratings from posts that are attached to other posts. :P

Good luck either way. I have two of these boards running servers and if I see your posts, I will also attempt to help you as Alex did. (Which from what I see there, it should be a SOLVED rating without debate.)

Some users have NO respect.

To restore BIOS factory settings, simply remove the battery that is on your motherboard. additionally, here is your motherboard's manual:
ftp://download.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/D845GVSR/SR_English.pdf
First you should make sure that everything is connected properly, Graphix card and PCI cards, DDR modules, processor and make sure the heatsink is properly installed on the processor, with fan turning.
Does the computer emit any beep(s) at start up? If so, go to
http://www.customautomaticsystems.com/CAS/ShowArticle.aspx?ID=54
to find out what they mean.
After you try all this, let me know what happens.

Why would you rate a thanx for trying if I just told you the sure fire way to reset a BIOS? There is not much more than anybody can tell you with the information given.
You come here with a motherboard that is a few years old, ask a generic question which I answer, and instead of asking more questions, you just go with a poor rating. Thx!
You are the perfect example of why experts on this website are going to get tired of loosing their time with ungrateful people like you.
