Re: Brother MFC-215C

Unplug machine from power. remove all carts. close cover. reconnect machine to power. wait until machine demands carts. reinsert cart as demanded by machine and secure them by pressing them into position and fixing the clip above the cart cover. give correct answer as display asks. Set date and time again.

btw: always print until printer stopps printing! Never change cart befor that
because printer logic will be fooled ;-)

I knew it needed to be reset to recognize the new toner. Glad you found the info in the electronic menu. Thanks for using Fixya. If my suggestion was helpful could you please rate it for Fixya. Thanks

My Brother MFC-215C printer Won't print

1. check to see if you have removed the protective tape that covers the contacts.
2. check to see if you have inadvertently put the cartridges in the wrong sockets.

No cartridge the printer say. i put new cartridge in

It mean that the black cartridge is not recognised. It the black cart is original or compatible? Some printer won't recognise cartridge, if the black and colour is not same type. Try to install the black only. Is it recognised?

MFC does not recognise the new black ink cartridge.

Disconnect power supply and USB lead (leave disconnected for 10 min). Repeat this for each colour that is not working and hey presto the LCD readout will revert to normal and you will be able to print again. Happy Christmas! Hope this works for you (worked for me)

Printer won't recognise new ink cartridges and correct itself.

try to reset the machine.
disconnect the usb and power cable...and press and hold down the power button for 45 seconds and then reconnect all the cables and try again...
or try to clean the print heads...still does not work...could be an issue with print sensors..needs to be replaces.

Black cartridge doesn't print

you need to do a hard reset on the printer as well it might clear up the problem and recognize the ink at its proper levels.

refer to your user manual or let us know and we will find the procedure to do so.

i have a similar model and know how picky they can be.

Brother 210C One colour cartridge empty, want to print a black and white fax

Yes, if you dont need the color anymore in future:

You can cheat with empty c/y/m carts by sticking some dark but very thin adhesive tape around the nose (see picture).

After that the printer logic expects the c/y/m carts always as full.

But you cant print any colors within the next 2 weeks anymore because air will dry out the print head (and destroy the color nozzels)!

See brother homepage for instructions on how to print in grayscale only!
