Does anyone have "duct" assembly instructions & photos for Dyson DC24?

Your DC24 is equipped with a sensor which shuts off the brushbar if something jams it. After you've checked the cleaner head for any obstructions, and cleared any threads or hair from around the brushbar, you should be able to reset your machine as shown in the video below.

Please note, the brushbar will never rotate when the machine is standing upright, so make sure you recline your DC24 into the vacuuming position before testing it.

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC24. The red button you're referring to is the brushbar motor reset button; the catch to release the brushbar is on the underside of the cleaner head.

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC24.

Your machine has two switches on it's upper body - a red on/off switch, and a silver brush control switch. When you press the red on/off switch and recline the machine into the vacuuming position, the brushbar should rotate automatically - you do not need to turn the brushbar on manually every time you use the cleaner. If you want to vacuum a hard floor or a delicate rug, you can turn the brushbar off using the silver brush control switch.

It's important to note that the brushbar will never rotate when the cleaner is standing in the upright position.

If you find that the brushbar will not rotate when you turn the machine on and recline it into the vacuuming position, the brushbar may need resetting. For directions on doing this, please follow the steps shown in the video below. When pressing the reset button in the red recess on the side of the cleaner head, it may help to use something like the eraser-end of a pencil, and to push it in until you hear and feel an audible 'click'.

Hi there,

DC24 is fitted with a safety device which shuts off the brushbar if it accidentally becomes tangled with a rug fringe, etc. To reset this, stand the cleaner so it's facing you, and locate the red reset button in the recess on the left side of the cleaner head. Pressing this in firmly should reactivate the brushbar.

Remember that the brushbar will never rotate when the cleaner is standing in the upright position, or if you've used the silver button next to the red on/off switch to turn it off.

There is a known issue with the DC24 brushbar motors. First thing to do is try the reset button. That is located on the left of the brush bar unit as you look at the machine. It is red. Press it and see if the brush bar works when the machine is reclined then. If it doesn't, you most likely need a brushbar motor. You can get one from here: Dyson DC24 brushbar motor.

There is no reset button for the beater bar on the DC07, DC14, DC17 or DC25. If you have a DC18 or DC24 post your question again and I'll tell you where to find the reset button for the brushbar.

If you don't have a DC18 or DC24 call the Dyson Helpline, they will troubleshoot it and try to get your brushbar to spin.
