If you remove the screws holding the handle pieces together you can separate them and remove the actuator and put the new one in the same place, then put the handle back together.

The wire schematics in the handle assembly has four total wires. Two from the hose and two from the Receptacle Nozzle. Take one wire from the hose and one wire from the receptacle and connect together. Take the second wire from the hose and connect to the Switch Handle PN2E PN2. Take the second wire from the receptacle and connect to the other switch terminal. the water basin has a safety on it so the unit cannot run without it. if you look on the bottom of the rainbow you can see a small oval shaped space that you can depress just to test and see if it still runs it will only run with this depressed.
You have to have the Aquamate II shampoo attachment in order to clean/shampoo your carpet. Go to the Rainbow website and you can purchase it if you don't already have one - if you do have one, this site also has simple directions on how to set up the Aquamate to shampoo your carpet.
