If it's an LCD, there are two light behind the screen. If they burn out, no light to see the screen. Replacement lights cost more then a new monitor these days.

How do I turn down brightness on my hp Windows 7 computer?

Hi,

Below are instructions to adjust brightness on HP laptop

    • Press the "Fn" key with the computer turned on and hold the key.

    • Press the "F7" or "F8" key on some HP laptops, which are printed with a small sun icon on the key. The sun icon is filled on the function key for dimming the laptop. The other key is printed with a hollow sun icon for brightening the screen.

    • Press the "Fn" and left arrow keys together on some HP laptops to turn down the brightness. The "Fn" and right arrow key will increase brightness. Press and release the right arrow key repeatedly, while holding down "Fn," to decrease the screen brightness slowly, or hold the keys to darken the screen as low as the setting will go.

  1. For HP Monitors

    • Press and hold the down arrow key on the front panel of the monitor below the screen to turn down the brightness on the external monitor to the lowest setting.

    • Repeatedly press the down arrow button to dim the monitor gradually.

    • Press the up arrow key on the monitor to increase brightness.

Rahul

The picture frame still scrolls pictures but the pictures are very dark and unable to be seen well. Is the frame ruined?

Hi, Don't put screen in direct sun light or bright light. Bright lights will destroy LCD screen. The LCD screen has some adjustments on back. You might be able to readjust picture brightness.
Good luck.

How to solve dim screen laptop monitor problem

You have a screen brighten key Up indicated by a sun emblem with a hole in the center. and a down brightness key indicated by a sun symbol. Mine is on the left arrow key and right error key. You hold down the Fn key and tap the bright up key or bright down key . I f this does not do it then your CRT/led screen is going bad because of the back light lamps. These lamps can be replaced, but it cost more than a LCD, which cost more than a new computer. Lets hope you can solve the problem with the Brightness Keys.

Is there any way to brighten my screen on my acer aspire 5601 lap top

Examine the keyboard. There should be a symbol on most of the function keys (F1, F2, etc.). Look for one that looks like a sun or lightbulb, either with an arrow pointing up or with the sun/lighbulb filled in. Hold the 'Fn' key, and tap the up/bright sun/lightbulb key a few times. The screen should increase in brightness.

If you cannot find the specified keys, you may be able to adjust brightness from inside Windows. Right click on the battery icon in the taskbar and open 'power options'. Look for a sun and moon with a sliding bar between them. You might also be able to adjust brightness by customizing your desktop (right click on the desktop and look for the proper menu).

How to increase the brightness of my hp compaq lap top

There should be brightness controls on the keyboard. Look for a key with the image of a 'sun' or 'light' symbol.

I have a coolpix l100 digital camera. I took pictures of my nieces on yesterday at a park, that had a small pond in the middle. The sun was shining bright and at some angles the pictures turned out dark....

If the sun was reflecting off the water, it fooled your camera into thinking there was so much light, it had to decrease the exposure. You could have used "exposure compensation" to get a better picture.

I have a Dell monitor that was donated to our church and all that comes on the screen is a white. the power is on but there is nothing but white light

Please check that when u power on ur computer then the Num Lock Key of Key Board is on or off.

1- If num lock key is on & monitor is displaying white screen then the problem is with ur monitor. For that u check the VGA cable going from monitor to back side of ur CPU & also set the brightness & contrast from ur monitor menu Setting.

2- If num lock key is off then the problem is with the RAM (Random Access Memory) which is placed inside the CPU. For that you have open the CPU, detach the RAM & clean the dust from that & then attach that at the same place.

Some times the Display problem is also comes across due to moisture, & for that you have place ur monitor in the sun light.

Hope after following these steps your monitor Display Problem will be get solved. If still you face the same problem then please let me know.

Vertical Smears (bands)

Your camera sensor is busted, or at least the chip that detects white balance. It is a common result of mishandling or pointing the lens at a very bright light like the sun. If you have the product warranty then have it replaced. If not bring it to a camera technician and have the faulty electronics repaired...

White bands and very white exposure is the common result of a faulty white balance or auto exposure function of your camera that went bust.

Why are there vertical lines or bars on the monitor screen when I record a movie?

Recording a movie of a subject that is brightly lit by the sun or some other very bright light source can cause vertical lines or bars to appear in the image during playback. This is due to a CCD phenomenon called "smearing." Note that lines or bars appear in movie images only, but not in snapshots. Smearing does not indicate malfunction of the camera.
