Danby Dehumidifier Model # DDR586R Serial # 6763858666 (only 28 months old) - Does not collect water or starts the compressor (was fine just a week ago). Fan runs fine, display is fine, air filter is clean. Is there some switch/relay that control the compressor that may be bad? Can the compressor control be by-passed (or manually closed) to verify the compressor working condition? Thanks.

- I open the dehumidifier and solve my own problem. One of the compressor motor capacitor leads (blue) was burned out and disconnected from the capacitor (possibly due to humidity or bad contact). I cut back the damaged wire, splice it/extend it and reconnect to "blue" side of the capacitor. Close the unit and restart - it works fine for now. Note: Make sure to discharge the capacitor before doing the described above work (just to avoid an electric shock).
