Hello, when you hit the AC button in the vehicle, does the AC compressor clutch engage? It normally freewheels until the AC button is pressed and that engages the clutch. If there is too little Freon or too much Freon the unit may not engage the clutch. IF there is the correct amount of Freon in the system, you might check the AC fuse in the fuse panel.
It is time to replace your clutch assembly and reface or change the flywheel. you may be able to do some adjustment but it will not last for long.

Drain the oil and Pull the clutch cover off. That rod connects to the clutch push button. sounds like it fell out.
Undo all the little clutch cover bolts. Carefully pull the cover off leaving all the clutch plates in a stack as some are different to others usually the first or last plate .Check the center of this plate as that is where the button usually is. Put it all back together and check clutch with cover off. You should see it move away as you pull the lever. Make sure you back off your clutch first.
Hope this helps cheers
If the belt has been changed, the button ramps in the secondary clutch should have been checked. The secondary clutch has 3 ramps that tend to wear, and this will wear the clutch out if not replaced right away. To remove the secondary clutch (rear clutch) remove the clutch cover and belt. Remove the bolt from secondary clutch and pull clutch off. The clutch is on a splined shaft so a puller will not be necessary. To check the ramps inside the clutch, rotate the outer sheave clockwise while holding inner sheave stationary. You should be able to see the ramps, if not they have worn completely gone and the clutch will have to be disassembled. Check this and let me know what you find. I will be happy to assist if you need to disassemble the clutch, Daniel.

the clutch 'safety' switch is basically a button on a bracket under the dash that is pushed by the clutch pedal lever to only allow the car to start when it's depressed.it's described as 'self adjusting',having to push it to the floor is normal.check condition of switch bracket, that a 'heavy' foot hasn't bent it,look at switch 'pusher' on lever for an adjustment or modification to suit your needs.

Hello , bad news here , when you press the start button it sends power to the motor and then a clutch sets in and closes a set of points that then sends power to your element -if the clutch does not engage the motor will not continue to run or send power to the element and that is what is happening to your dryer.
not an easy fix at all , the clutch is bad and its located inside the motor and the entire motor would need replaced to repair this problem. they range from 80-100 dollars and would take about 1-2 hours to change.
let me know if you have any other questions.
Phil
