Ball filter comes unclipped makes noise ball is very hot. I wait a while click filter back and all ok for a while then it goes again.
THe iflter is BAD. run it without it and the heat and noiese will stop. THen you can decide to buy a new one or not. It is not required. It is an allergy helper. But if you had allergy issues a bagless is not the way to go anyway. The filter claims to be washable but it is not really . A new filter can be washed or even better blown out with a compressor a couple of times but you will be changing every year or two.
I hope I'm not being too obvious here, but seems to me that if the filter pops out when the machine shuts down, and the area around the filter is hotter than the rest of the unit, that the filter might be the culprit here. If you have a new filter I'd install it and throw the old one out, if no new filter available, I'd certainly try running it without the filter to learn whether it is, indeed, the problem. Then you can proceed with the new information.
It sounds like you may have a motor going bad. It could also just be stopped up. That would make it overheat and shut off too. The filter may be in wrong or the tab may be broken or weak. You just take it to your local vacuum repair shop to have it looked at.

Same problem here. We noticed a loss of suction for about 5 minutes and the suction stopped. Beater bar still rotates but ZERO suction.
