I am nt able to chat on the facebook it says' error on the page shows an icon. i cannot see them nor they can see me,whether i am there or not fr chat. bt otherwise facebook is working fine.

Point your web browser at http://www.facebook.com

If another account comes up, log out of it by clicking the little gear icon in the upper-right then clicking "Log Out."

Facebook Chat Availability

Your Facebook Chat availability determines how you appear in your friends' chat lists.
When you're logged in to your Facebook account, your name appears in the chat sidebars of any friends who are currently logged in.
When you set your chat preference to available, a green box appears next to your name.
When you're available, but idle, a grey moon appears next to your name.
When you're unavailable, your name appears without an icon.

Adjusting Chat Availability
Adjust your chat availability to control the visibility of your name in friends' chat lists.
Sign in to your Facebook account and click the "Chat" box in the lower right corner of any page to open your chat list.
Click the "Options" icon in the upper right corner of the box.
Click "Go Offline" to disconnect your chat availability.
If you're using the Facebook Chat sidebar, click the "Options" icon in the upper right corner of the box. Click the "Chat" box to open the sidebar if it isn't showing up on your home page.
Click the "Available to Chat" option to delete the check mark, making yourself invisible and unavailable to chat. Disconnected Facebook Chat
Once you disconnect Facebook Chat or limit your chat availability, your online presence will be invisible to other users.
You can still browse the Facebook site as you would normally.
The appearance of your chat list won't be altered by your availability; you'll still be able to see which of your friends are online and available to chat.
That is, as long as their chat availability isn't hidden or disconnected.

Your Chat Messages

If a friend attempts to message while your Facebook Chat is disconnected, the message will be delivered to your Facebook inbox.
You'll receive an on-site notification, as well as text or email notifications if you're set up for that, alerting you that you have a new message in your inbox.
Click the "Message" icon that appears in the upper left corner of any page upon signing in to your Facebook account.
Any new messages will appear in the drop-down list. Click the "See All Messages" link at the bottom of the box to access your inbox and respond to any messages.

You can going to chat icon (right and bottom of Facebook page) and you can disable-enable chat with 'Going Offline' or opposite. Every controll is there...

Actually may be your status on Facebook is as "Offline" that's why it is not showing you the chat box, first you have to make your status as "online"
For this log in your Facebook account, when your home page will open, On the left side down on the page there will be written that "you are currently offline to chat with your friends "Go online". Click on it and your status will become online and your chat box will open on the bottom of the page. If you have done this and problem is still there then may be the problem is in your browser, in this situation try to log in with other browser, After this if you have still this problem then may be you are blocked to chat from Facebook or there is a problem in Facebook server, then wait for a while it will probably fix soon.

A series of updates came along with all kinds of bugs! The all known bug is online/offline chat.
Solution to your massive fonts are CTRL + Scroll on mouse. As far as I know there is no real solution for refreshing notifications, I would try with reinstalling web browser and installing a new one (Firefox, Chrome, Opera).

It's a problem with your network connection. Try reloading the page or closing your browser then opening it again.

Try to log-in to Facebook, then select "forgot my password". They will e-mail you to get a new pessword.

you can chat in facebook page by clicking the chat icon located in the right hand side bottom corner and the icon is notified by a chat symbol when you get the mouse near it

chat box does not work when i use chating then yellow sign show it

This happens when you lose your connection, refresh the page and you should be able to continue chatting.

If this doesn't work, then facebook might be doing some maintenance work on their chat module.
