Dryer has just stopped working. Was working fine all the time we have had it, but just stopped.Normal lights come on after setting and pressing start button, but no activation. Have checked lint screen and dryer outlet for obstructions, but none found. Any advice as to what to look for next, or what things normally cause this?

SOURCE: My LG dryer will not power up

You may have a broken door switch.  That would be the most likely source of your problem since the machine will not work if the computer senses that the door isn't closed.

SOURCE: dryer will not start.. Here clicking sound when i push start button but nothing happens

Did you clean the lint screen and replace? Also - all lint should be cleaned from back of dryer and the duct...many dryer manufacturer have safety sensors that will not light dryer due to there being too much lint, not enough air flow...(safety feature) ...

SOURCE: whirlpool dryer will not spin

Since your dryer is "new" it is under warranty. I will explain the possible reasons why it will not spin. Then you can decide whether to make the warranty call or not.

If your dryer doesn't tumble, check these:

Belt
Motor
Door switch
Belt Dryers have a drive belt that turns the clothes drum. If the belt breaks, the drum stops rotating. Then you need to replace the belt, and often the idler pulley, because the pulley tends to wear out at the same time.

Click here for a belt installation diagram.

Motor If the dryer motor only hums when you press the Start button, the motor may be burned out. Here's how to test the dryer motor:

  • Remove the belt.

  • Check for obstructions in the blower fan housing.

  • Manually rotate the shaft of the motor.

If the motor is very stiff, or impossible to rotate manually, and the blower fan housing is clear, you need to replace the motor.

If the motor rotates freely, run the motor momentarily with the belt removed and the blower in place. If the motor runs fine with the belt removed, there may be a problem with the idler pulley or the clothes drum. Try to rotate the drum by hand. If it is very difficult to move, correct any problem with the rollers or pulley, and then reassemble the dryer and try it again.

If the motor hums but doesn't rotate on its own even with the belt removed--yet you can turn it freely by hand--you usually need to replace the motor or the motor start capacitor.

Door switch Your dryer can't operate at all if the door switch is defective. It's inside the dryer main housing near the door frame. Sometimes you need to raise or open the top or front of the dryer to reach the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it.

SOURCE: Dryer not starting, when I press the start/stop

Hello, Welcome to FixYa.

There are a couple of scenarios which may prevent the dryer from starting with Bosch, one you mentioned and no it doesn't depress in, it just resets it...but with the most common there are two thermostat's/switches
which could be reset, ( plus a no reset hi-limit on the lint housing not so common )... i.e.
macmarkus_15.jpg ...which cannot be reset, but the hi-limit is the one related to heating you rest already...located on the heater housing and the other (emergency shut off/belt switch) is by the motor shown below.
Anyway,

To save time and back and forth dialog, I`ll mention the most likely and what to do about it.

**Unplug the dryer before attempting any repair tips suggested here please...safety first**

There is an auto shut off or emergency kill switch next to the motor I alluded to which will prevent it to start in the event it was tripped for whatever reason.
This is the most likely scenario in my opinion based on your post...but again it depends on your model.
This will require you to remove the back panel again though. Once you've remove the rear panel, It will look like this image below and all you need to do is push it to the right ( from the back )...

i.e.

macmarkus_14.jpg
Since you`ve already taken the back of the dryer off before to gain access you should have no problem.

Either Scenario I alluded to will require the removal of that panel so let me know if you require further assistance to do this.

The other would be resetting the hi-limit cut out, You can see through the back vent opening when the vent tube is removed ( cannot be removed without removing rear panel the first time, but if attached a certain way can be done each time after ) and then by pushing the red button in...shown below.

i.e.

923283f.jpg

Keep me posted how you make out or if anything is not clear or if your model is completely different...some have line fuses at the back.

Thanks for choosing FixYa and good luck.

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

The start button is flashing red and beeping and the drying cycle won't start. Help!

  • If the machine shakes or makes a lot of noise, make sure the dryer is level. Some shaking is normal, but it shouldn't bounce around like it's itching to go somewhere. Adjust the leveling legs. They just screw and unscrew. Check to make sure the load inside the dryer is properly distributed and is not all clumped together.
  • Match the control settings to the type of load, and make sure you're not overloading the dryer.
  • Check that the ducts aren't blocked if the clothes take too long to dry. Look for lint or missing socks. Check to make sure the ducting isn't kinked, and make sure the outside dryer vent flap moves freely and isn't blocked---by snow, for example.
  • Sort your clothes by weight if they aren't drying properly. Lightweight clothes should be dried separately from items like comforters.
  • Make sure the lint drawer is empty.
  • Press the "Stop" button or press the "Lock" button for three seconds if the controls don't work. Press the "Power" button to wake the dryer up if it won't start. Make sure the "Delay Start" button isn't flashing if the machine fails to start. Press "Start" again.
  • If you see only lights displayed on the screen and no numbers, it's normal. The dryer has detected a low level of moisture. Other normal behavior is when the time remaining jumps to a lower number---it's revising its estimated time remaining. When you can't make a selection and the dryer beeps twice, the dryness setting is incompatible with the chosen dry cycle hope this helps please tell me if it does

My dryer quit working this morning. The light and beep go off but the drum dies nothing.

I have the Frigidaire Affinity Washer and Dryer. A few weeks ago my Washer door switch went out I changes that with no problem. Now the Dryer has just stop quit working. Here are the symptoms on the ; 1>it's plug up and the power is fine 2> there is no errors on the panel 3> control operate fine. 4> close the door, set the controls, press start, No spinning. 5> when you press start you hear a buzzing sound for about 5 seconds, then nothing... Is it over for the dryer I bought 3 years with out extended warranty, or is the a simple fix? Thanks, Rob...

Maytag Electric Dryer Stopped Working

Check spring tab behind door switch-if it's bent/out of adjustment, circuit will act like door is always open.

To confirm this, open door, set dryer to active setting, and hold in door switch; if it comes on, then it's either the spring tab, or the switch is malfunctioning
