What exactly do you mean comes on late? As in temperature gauge is up past normal operating temperature before it comes on?

My 94 Escort had a problem with the fan relay connections at the relay, I had to remove it and the wires connected to it from the distribution box, this is complicated and not normal, but to check your relay, you will find it in the distribution box on the left fender close to the front underhood. The temp sensor is located in the steel portion of the heater line bolted to the block at the back of the cylinder head under the intake tube, there are two sensors there one for the guage and the other for the fan relay. Hope this helps, let me know

I have a 1994 Ford Escort LXE- the car runs hot when idling or driving at slower speed. It appears it has overheated from looks of overflow. When driving it will remain at normal, with defrost on and fan...

Check and make sure that your fan on the radiator is coming on.when it gets hot do you hear anything like a fan running if not its probably a coolant fan relay. If your ac is working when it starts to heat up turn it on and you sould hear a fan runing and it sould start cooling down if you dont then check fuses .I wish I was close to you and I could check it out for you and save you some money .I have 3 in college and 1 just starting to drive .Been mec. for 35 years .If you want to email me and I will try to tell you what to do [email protected] Im in N.C. if I can help.Yes and I have 3 daughters too!!!

In the 94 Ford escort there are 3 wires that come from the cooling fan. i need to know which one is possitive which one is negative and what the 3rd one means

If your car has the 1.9 motor and A/C then...Light Green/Yellow stripe wire is from the high speed fan relay,
Yellow wire is from the low speed fan relay and Black is ground.
Both LG and Y are "positives" just different fan speeds.

Replaced cooling fan ,cooling fan relay, and 40 amp fuse. Fan still won't come on. Any suggestions? 1995 Ford Escort w/ 1.9 liter engine.

Did you check the parts before replacement? Check if there is power supply to the fan when engine is hot and the fan should start. Also check the temperature sensor or the automatic fan switch located below the radiator, it may be faulty.

1992 ford escort overheats

Check the temperature switch, which is mounted on the rear of the cylinder head (driver side, upper engine area), and also the cooling fan control. Both of these signal when the cooling fan should come on, and it sounds like it's kicking on too late.

''94 ford escort with very loose steering.

steering rack is bad. I would not recommend this as a DIY project, as it is very involved and a safety related item.

Cooling fan module???

cooling fan module just refers to the fan, the motor and the shroud. There is no electronic module.
The fan has relays for protectin and the engine computer oerates it when it gets siganls from the engine coolant temp sensor, the A/C being on, etc.
what is your issue?
