I had the same problem but i finally found the solution i held my calculator at gun point and told it to stop messing with me.
Somone else posted this solution on a different thread and it worked for myself. You turn the calculator on. then repeat "2nd up arrow" to get the darkest setting. let the calculator sit for awhile on the darkest setting. Then clear the screen with the "clear" and turn it back to regular contrast settings. I had to repeat this twice but it now works fine.
Same with my ti-83+. I also had not used it for a while.
Open it up and remove the protective metal.

So I have the same problem sort of. Does the best solution, (opening the calculator up and removing the protective metal) actually work? I'd like to know if it really did for sure before doing it myself.
when i turn on my ti- 83 plus caculator this morninig all was doing jumble/ pixel . The cursor jump when i hit enter and the numbers come in half
Yep, same ****. Had mine for 5 years...it did the same thing last summer (after going unused for about 2 years) and some nerdy kid in my class did something to fix it, but now the problem is back. Anything? I would hate to buy a new calculator for just 5 more weeks of class.
I have the same problem.. how do i fix this?
I had the same problem. I tried to remove the protective metal covering did not work. I did find that if you open it the case and clean the contacts on back of the screen it resolved the issue. For how long I do not know.
I have the same problem....i have has my TI83 for 6 years now I wanted to use and just shows random # all over the screen?
i have a problem in share markets with some jumbled numbers !
I do not have Instructions or a Manual describing how to connect to the TV or which wires to use. And where is the battery door? The label says it requires 2 AAA batteries. Can you help this 83 year old senior Lady?
