I just bought a DLink DIR-300, i have internet connection but when running the setup install, Error 103 pops up and says i have firewall issues. I disabled the firewall and still getting the error message. I obviously have internet connection but the installation can't seem to read it. What to do next?
Hi
please consider that the modem Software is just for first configuration for accessing the internet or configuring the wireless setup and change its password or other configurations.so normally you don't need to install that software if you have internet connection.
so if you want to configure or change its settings then try to access it from its built in website,
1-you changed the configuration before:
then for finding its website address try to look at "Default gateway" on your computer or your mobile wifi settings (this is your modem address. the address is the IP address and it is look like 192.168.1.1 (you can type "ipconfig /all" in windows command prompt or "ifconfig -l" in Linux based systems or goto your wifi settings on your mobile devices and see the "default gateway". then after finding the address try to type it on your Firefox,Chrome,Edge, internet explorer address bar)
2-you don't change it yet:
then normally its address is like 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 and mark it normally by the manufacturer on the bottom of you modem lable
after opening the website you should consider the default user name and password is (if you didn't change it before):
username:admin
password:admin
or
usermane:admin
password:1234

Next step for both
All functions and settings of this access point must be configured via the web

Please input user name and password in the field respectively. The default user name is
‘admin’, and the default password is ‘admin’. Press the ‘OK’ button to see the web
management interface of this access point:
NOTE: If you can’t see the web management interface, and you’re being
prompted to input user name and password again, it means you didn’t
input username and password correctly. Please retype user name and
password again.
After you connected to the access point by web browser, the first thing you see is ‘Status
and Information’ page. All system and network related information of this access point
will be displayed here. The information is very helpful when you want to know the
detailed information of your access point, and when you try to fix the communication
problem between this access point and other wired / wireless computer / devices.
You can click ‘Home’ on the left,
This access point can be operated in different modes; you can click ‘Basic Setting’ to
select an operating mode you want to meet for different needs:
You can click ‘Mode’ dropdown menu to select operating mode, and there are 3
operating modes available:
AP Access point mode, allows wireless clients to connect to
access point and exchange data with the devices connected
to the wired network.
Station-
Infrastructure
Enable the Ethernet device such us TV and Game player
connected to the access point to a wireless client.
Universal

This product can act as a wireless range extender that will
help you to extend the networking wirelessly. The access
point can act as Station and AP at the same time. It can use
Station function to connect to a Root AP and use AP function

You can hopefully figure it out from there.

You can set up your router manually, without the
CD.
Make sure that your computer is able to go online
directly through the modem.
If your computer is able to go online through the
modem, that means the modem is working fine.
You will need to connect the computer to the
router and the modem to the router.
open the set up page of the router and change the
settings of the router according to the ISP.
