Perfect Focus Not Working- Picture is Blurred

  • I tried the same: mute>183
  • When I hold down the 'enter/menu' nothing happens...I don't get any 'data' information and it doesn't get clear
  • How long does that have to be held?
  • Perfect Focus Button goes through cycles, but doesn't reach 100%
  • When turned off and then back on....still blurred picture.

Got new STK392-040 chips and picture is still distorted. Manual convergence still won't alligne all colors.

the 183 is entry into the tech menu===you need to test all the low value resistors around the convergence chips(only 6 or 8) and they will read low and a resistor with NO reading may be your problem.

Also these sets use a pico fuse going to each chip--either right with it or back at the source----know what a pico fuse looks like"

"Perfect Focus" problem on Samsung HCN4727W

You have a bad sensor, a bad digital convergence board, or the new board is not working correctly. I would start by swaping out the convergence board or exchange it for another one. Good Luck

Convergence problem

Are you trying to adjust it in the customer menu?

There is a hidden tech menu where you adjust and SAVE THE ADJUSTMENTS.

Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} TOSHIBA CONVERGENCE ADJUSTMENTS

If it does not save you have a problem with either the convergence output chips or the part of the set that stores the adjusments.

If this helped you rate this solution as I do this here for free.

Green & Blue Ghosting Convergance problem

Odds are real good that the cooling fluid in the green and blue picture tube assemblies has become contaminated. You can tell by looking down into the lenses with a flash light. Funny thing is the red never gets contaminated because whatever organism is causing the problem can't survive in red light. BTW this may still not solve all of your convergence problems but when the colors are so badly diffused the convergence sensors for flash focus can't lock onto the beam landing.

The picture is blurred because the red, green, and blue colors are not properly focused. The TV's auto focus feature doesn't solve the problem

This can be as simple as poor solder connections at the convergence ICs or defective ICs. If you can solder you can fiz this yourself. Let me know if you wish to attempt the repair and I'll suply additional details and instructions.

Perfect focus not working

I purchased mine about 5 months ago. Ive been researching and playing around with the remote. This will help you on the way. With the set off, press "Mute", 1, 8, 2 then turn the tv on. This will bring up the main settings, dont change any values on any page, unless you write the origonal values down first, because the total reset doesnt return everything to a "factory" preset. Scroll down to reset and press the enter key. I havent come across any owners or service manuals, and support is slim to none. I wrote a review for the same model on a wal-mart site I believe, and it explains adjustments in more detail. If you want to try to figure out the buttons for yourself, while the tv is on, press "Mute 1, 8, 3" this is another set of adjustments for finer detail. If you change an adjustment here and your not sure, just press the exit button. To save your adjustments in the convergence mode, press and hold the enter button, it should flash a few times and center itself on the screen. If you make a mistake in this mode, the total reset I mentioned first should get you back on track. If you find anything out or have a question, feel free to write me at
