Brand new cooling unit 1 week ago. Freezer works great now but frige will not cool on propane or electric.
Greetings from Marvin Adams Ammonia Man! I have recharged many older cooling units. The reason your cooling unit dosen't work is not so easy to explain. The Ammonia absorption cooling unit works on the partial pressure law.If the total pressure in the cooling unit is above or below the window for proper cooling performance will suffer. There is either too little Ammonia liquid boiling off in the upper evaporator,(freezer),to supply the lower evaporator with Ammonia liquid. You see, there is only cooling where Ammonia liquid boils off and takes heat with it.Also,if the pressure in the cooling unit is too low,the Ammonia liquid will boil off at a higher temperature.I have seen new cooling units that were improperly charged. There is also the problem of Hydrogen diffusion, and manufacturers don't tell you about it.This generally takes years to happen,as the Hydrogen being very light, goes through the pores of the steel tubing. This reduces the total pressure in the system so the Ammonia liquid boils off at a lower temperature. Please go to www.marvinspropanerefrigerators.com. I am a reputable dealer direct for Dometic Propane refrigerators. You can also find me at www.dometic.com under RV dealers;just put in my zip code,80526,and you will see me,Marvin's Mobil RV Service.Feel free to call me anytime at 970-224-4162.I have the best prices available for Propane refrigerators.Used refrigerators are a risk and cost almost as much as a new one,and they don't come with a good warranty.I am a Propane refrigerator specialist and I can help you with any questions you might have. You can email me at [email protected],Marvin Adams Ammonia Man,(MAAM).
Check your door gaskets
SOURCE: my freezer is working but my frige is not cooling
wrong model # ,defrost problem. remove freezer panel, check heater, check limit switch while still covered in ice, if both ohm infinity, replace defrost timer.
SOURCE: Small round part below freezer that appears to be
this could be just fluid drain pipe make sure pipe is not blocked or freezer will just defrost itself/freeze again in cycles.
SOURCE: frig side does not cool. freezer side cools
The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.
SOURCE: frig doesn't cool. Freezer works fine. freezer
You have solved your problem :D You need to get that fan blowing. The vast majority of the time that is all you need. Other times, there can be another part controlling the operation of the fan (ADC - Adaptive Defrost Control). Post the model number and I will see if you have one of these ADCs in your appliance :D
