Question about Toshiba 50HP66 50 in. Plasma Television

Toshiba 50HP66 50 in No Picture/Only Sound

My TV has no video, only audio. It's half a year old and have experienced no problems with it up to this point. I was just watching tv and it went completely noises, no pops, or buzzes. We still have audio and we've unplugged and reset every device attached to the tv itself. Right now we've just unplugged it and letting the poor thing "rest". Any suggestions?

Re: Toshiba 50HP66 50 in No Picture/Only Sound

Most likely a power supply failure, and or a failure on one of the other boards that is causing the shutdown.

The set will need service.

No picture, no sound, but TV will power up

Average life on all brands and models is 3 to 5 years. Average repair on this size and type of set varies but is usually from 150 to 250 parts and labor. I see very few sets of this type (any brand) that are more than 6 years old.

The bulk of sets in our shop (over a hundred sets on average) that have failed are under 2 years of age.

There are vertical 1" to 2" black lines that come and go. They are on the top half of the screen only. Also, the TV takes 40 min of flashing before the picture comes on. Our TV is about 5 years old. ...

I have an LG flat screen no picture or sound

As your TV is three years old, I would suggest you contact your LG dealer to arrange an engineer to call to do a software upgrade on the it. The current software will be out of date & if you are connected via the HDMI connector then this can give audio/video problems.

No picture, just sound

No new video card required. I just reset the television by holding the on/off button for five seconds (yellow light on front panel blinks repeatedly). I then cycled power using the remote control and my picture came back. Worked for me. Hope it works for you.

No picture, good sound

It's most likely the video board. The menu is injected at the output of the video stream right before the LCD panel. Having audio indicates the signals are getting from the inputs through the input switcher and audio boards. Unless you have electronics experience, I suggest having an experienced tech look at it.

If the Video (Picture/Pix) is gone but you can hear the Audio (sound), then it could mean the YSUS PCB Assembly is gone/kaput/finish. Can replace the PCB, not repair the PCB due to timing circuitry involve. Cost maybe roughly $500 depending where you located. The PCB is located on the left hand side of your TV when you are facing the back (Back open). Might find 3-4 brown flex membrane connecting to the plasma panel. The PCB has a silver or black aluminum heatsink (big) on it.
Good Luck.
