Question about Apple iPod nano

Not synching correctly with itunes music folder

I recently purchased a second gen 8 gig Ipod nano. When I first synched my ipod nano, my music wasn't in great order. So, I went into the Itunes music folder and moved a bunch of music around organizing it much better. However, when i synched the ipod after the move, the ipod did could not find the files i moved. Ok, so then I thought I needed to "restore" the ipod and erase the files on the ipod and start from scratch. I thought that when I did the restore and then resynched once again that the ipod would download the newly organized music from my itunes music folder and create a new library. That did not happen. I still got a message when i synched that states that there are a bunch of files that there is a problem with because their locations could not be found. What can I do? Do I need to delete the old library? I love everything about my Ipod, but I just want my Ipod to reflect the exact way I catalogued it in my itunes music folder. Please help! Thanks

Re: not synching correctly with itunes music folder

I know another way you could try formatting which may fix this problem. Restoreing just restores all the setting to your iPod yes it shoudl format as well but it may not due to an error or something.

To do try it another way follow these steps, first click on "Start" - "My Computer" look for you iPod when it's connect usually called "Removable Disk" once you've found it "Right-click" on it then click on "Format", once format is complete disconnect, then connect it again then run "Update" for your iPod and for iTunes, once you've done that have another attempt.

Good luck. Hope my solution was helpful in some way. Further problems leave a comment and i will get back to you.

I never use the sync so don't understand the problem you have but I do copy the mp3panda songs I want to the nano from itunes. I highlight all the music I want and then drag it to my nano icon on itunes. I hope this works for you. Good Luck.

My shuffle was originally synched to my son's apply computer. I now want to add more songs. But, the shuffle won't synch with my husband's Dell laptop. He had itunes downloaded and uses a apple nano.

You need to use a program called senuti, by design Apple stop you using more than 1 ipod on each computer to stop pirating of music, I use Senuti to get round this, it costs about $10.

Will i lose all my synched ipod music if dad reconfigures comp??

If you try to sync with Dad's PC via iTunes you will lose your music. However take a look at XPlay 3 from; that will allow you to recover music from your iPod onto a PC.
If you need to do this on a Mac try Senuti.

Ipod synching

I remembered that I had to reset my ipod once before and since I had already uninstalled and reinstalled itunes I thought it must be the ipod. So, I pushed the enter and the play buttons at the same time for about 5 seconds to reset the ipod and when I connected it to itunes this time, it was working!!!
