Re: 2141 Block carrier

Hi Silvestre,

So the carriage is locked in your scanner, usually the carriage lock on scanners is mechanical so you should try checking the bottom of the scanner and there is usually a switch there. I personally don't have this HP model scanner, but I have something similar, so this may help you in finding out where to unlock it the bottom. Follow this link:

Make sure to turn off the scanner and unplug it from the outlet when you move the carriage lock. You can try to move the switch a couple of times, and plug it back and see if after doing that you are now able to use the scanner.

Otherwise you may have to check with your scanner manual for further help, or call up HP Technical Support, since it's possible that it maybe a mechanical problem with the scanner.

Hope this helps!

Peace! :)

My sahara Flatbed Scanner works fine except that I cannot find how to print without a "grey:" background. What should I do to print with a clear white background? Eric Schafer. Cape Town RSA.

you will find if you reduce the dpi the scanner is scanning the pictures or documents in, that you will not get a grey background , as you describe, what it is printing is actually the paper itself, if you have it set for say 1200 dpi then reduce it to 600 dpi or even 300 dpi and you will see the difference when you print it
or only select the exact area you want to scan in the document, click preview then move the scan area selection box to exactly fit the picture you want to scan

Scanning speed slows down after approx 100 pages. Is it possible to talk to a 1220 expert on phone to describe multipule problems, today?

Scanner 'slows' down depending upon various conditions. For color images and large detailed files, there may be some slowing down. The most common cause is insufficent disk space. Check where you are directing the computer to write the scanned images. Have sufficient space and do a 'defrag' done.

I have a 3490 scanner but have lost the neg holder to scan negs.

You really cannot scan a neg without a special holder. I recommend paying $90 to Costco and buying their special USB Scanner which scans one neg at atime! They are great!

Dimage II software

If you could describe in more detail I might be able to help you.

I use this scanner in XP with no problems. If you haven't already, you should download the latest drivers from Minolta. It is a 3.30 MB file called Dsd2103e

You need to remove any existing software and drivers first and you install the drivers before hooking up the scanner.

Make sure you have the door of the scanner closed before launching the scanning software. Once the splash screen comes up you are good to go and can open the door either to the first notch for either of the 35mm carriers, or all the way for Aps.
