Re: screen is black
It sounds like your PS2 is not booting up. If you get opening screen with no disc in the PS2 your motherboard is botting up ok. If your not getting the screen with the circling dots when you start up the PS2 your motherboard has a problem. If your PS2 does boot up and the screen goes balck after the disc is running, then your Disc is corrupted, and you will have to get a new Game disc. Please post some more details as to what exactly is happening to your PS2. We will get you a solution. You may need to send your PS2 to the Playstation Clinic for repair. Go click on "repair directory" at the bottom of this screen. Click on Video Game console repair services.

You can try the steps below. Its from PlayStation Forum:
Turn off Playstation®3. 2. Hold the power button down; the system
will turn on and turn off once again. 3. Once the System has been
shutdown, re-press you finger until you hear 2 consecutive beeps 4.
When you hear the 2 beeps take finger off power button. 5. You will
be prompted to plug in your controller via USB and then hit the PS
button 6. The Recovery menu will pop up.
The current Recovery
Menu supports: • Restart System: Restarts the PLAYSTATION®3 System. •
Restore Default Settings: Reset all system settings back to default. •
Restore File System: Checks for corrupt/missing system files. •
Rebuild Database: Rebuilds the OS for the PLAYSTATION®3. • Restore
PS3 System: Fresh restore; Deletes everything and starts from Scratch. •
System Update: Update the PLAYSTATION®3 System
If the above
steps still does not solve the problem, then I think will have to update
Update your PS3 (in the settings menu the 1st option).
the internet browser on the PS3 then go on the menu press triangle
then on one of them there are delete cookies and the delete the others
as well as cookies.
You could also try this as well: put the PS3
on then press the eject button (with no disc in) then hold it and
switch the PS3 off at the back with your finger on the eject button
still holding it, then put it back on and the fan test should be
working this may cool it down. It might be over heating.
after trying the above options and it still does not solve the problem,
then maybe the lens is weak and that's why it cannot read any disc.
if your problem is not still solved, then maybe you should call sony
for further assistance.
Ok do not worry this may mean two things crached hard drive or a corrupted hard drive all you have to do is turn it on but let the red ligth be on turn it on do not remove your finger from the button until it go's off again turn it on again keep your finger until it makes a sound but still do not remover your finger untill it makes two sounds after eachouther take your finger of fast nou a screen will apear say restore sestem untill your ps3 works again it take 1-4 trys and if nothing happens you must format it.HOPE I WAS USEFULL PLZZ RATE ME AND IF THERE IS ANYTHING ELS EMAIL ME TO email@example.com I DO PS1,2,3,DVD PLAYERS AND PC sorry for my spelling i am only 13 and i afrikaans BUT PLZZZ RATE ME....Tnks
The Playstation (R) 3 has most likely been patched. I find it knocks back not only Action Replay but XPLODER also (The EU version of Gameshark) both for PS2 it is likely that SONY has blocked it out to stop consumers playing region locked dvd movies. So if you in UK you can only play Region 2 PAL dvd's, if you in the us, you can only play Region 1 NTSC dvds. If in AUS, you can only play Region 4 Dvd Disc....etc.... AR Max had a feature to bypass this problem, thus why sony has probably patched against it. As for a solution I am also searching for one, truth be told, I don't think there is one.
You should boot up your codes on your PS2, then the game.
Save your game.
Then copy your save game to your PS3.
its a ps2 problem open the ps2 up if its a big ps2 not a mini and dust it the dust is making it harder for your ps2 to read disks open it dust it and itll be like barnd new if its a small ps2 i dont know dusting the thing always help dust with somthing small a cotton ball or ear swab will work
Ah that happens to me. I threw mine at the wall, and then it worked. (True Story). And I get the awful screetching noise too. I think it has something to do with the "Fatty PS2s" Do you have a fatty PS2?
