Power on the system, press and hold the "control" key and hold it until the Windows startup screen appears. Select "Safe Mode" from the menu.
Hope this is what you were looking for.

Everytime i try to install norton internet security 2011 on my computer running windows xp it says the program that you try to install has detected as malware and it cancelled the installation..

Seems like you have virus or malware on your computer. Download malwarebytes from and run a scan. Remove anything that malwarebytes suggest. You should also run a scan in safemode. After you have done this you should try to install Norton Internet Security 2011 again.

Sounds like you have a virus. boot into safemode with networking and download malwarebytes run that in safe mode. then restart into normal windows and run malware again. then i suggest downloading AVG its free and antivirus great program. also if you are using mcaffee dont use it. It slows your PC down way to much

Had a virus.put on kaspersky internet security 2011 and now it runs slow

If you had antivirus prior to installing Kaspersky then that could be the issue. Having more than one antivirus causes issues since they scan files that are in use. So when one antivirus scans a file, the other does and they loop causing your computer to slow down.
If that isn't the case, I'd recommend booting into safemode, installing Malwarebytes Antimalware and doing a full scan after you update it. Malwarebytes is free and very good. You can boot into safemode by pressing F8 during startup.

My Dell Inspiron 6400 (purchased Nov. 2006) has become psychotic. This virus lets me open one file or program but then if I want to open up another file or anything, I have to restart the computer. So...

Turn off the computer, and make sure its unhooked from the internet.
On another computer, download the free Avast antivirus (, and put it on a flash drive, or CD.
Next start your computer in SafeMode. (If you don't see an option press F8 when your computer starts to boot, and select SafeMode from the boot options.)
After your computer has booted in SafeMode, put in the CD or flash drive and install the antivirus. After it installs do a full system scan. (If it ask to restart your computer let it, but make sure you boot in safe mode.)
This should get rid of the viruses on the system, and it will prevent future viruses.
Hope that helps,

My compaq mini 110 was infected with THINK POINT VIRUS. i downloaded a malware scanning program which seemingly worked for about a day...with an abundance of pop ups and self restarts. as i researched...

The re-installation of windows is however recommended, but you can try with follwing procedure to remove Think point Virus:-
1. Restart your computer in SafeMode - After Power-On the computer, just before Windows start, press F8 - From the selections, Select SafeMode
2. End ThinkPoint Process - Press Ctrl+Alt+Del from the keyboard to open Task Manager - Go to process Tab - Select 'hotfix.exe' and click on End Process - Close Task Manager
3. Remove Registry entries that the threat added. You MUST BACKUP YOUR REGISTRY FIRST. - Click Start > Run - Type in the field, regedit - Navigate and look for the registry entries mentioned above and delete if necessary
4. Delete malicious files that the threat added: - Base on the given location above, browse and delete the file - If no location is given, click Start>Search> and search for the files. - If cannot be deleted, press Ctrl+Alt+Del to access Task Manager, see if the file is running in the process. If it is, select the file and click End Process. Perform file delete again.
5. Scan computer with Antivirus Program - Update antivirus program - Scan computer and delete all detected threats.
Hope it will helps, if so do rate the solution
Good Luck

I have a computer virus that freezes the screen and I can not do anything from that point. The computer will shut down and re-boot but then the virus takes over.

try removing the hard drive and put it in another computer with an anti virus [but do not open nor explore!!!] the scan it to remove the viruses, but if a system file is affected you may need to reformat it...

hope this helps...

Chrome mouse on laptop freezes, get stuck...advice that I have more information about your pointer problem, yes, there could be a trojan virus causing it.Best thing to do first is,using your other mouse, boot your computer up into safemade by tapping the F8 key untill you reach a black diagnostics screen. At the top of the list you will see "safemode",using the arrow keys on your keypad, move up to "safemode" and press Enter, then wait for the boot to finish. This procedure allows you to get inot windows with services and drivers only needed to help fix many problems.Sometimes there are trojans that will use certain windows services or programs you installed to run.Using safemode allows you to "get in" your computer without those programs and services running. After you get into safemode and your all booted up,see if you can use your synaptics pointing device normally,if so,then yes, there is a very good chance you have a trojan or trojans infecting your computer. If so,best thing to do,is open your virus scanner while you are in safemode and do a complete scan,to see if any virus or trojans are present and remove them, then reboot your computer and let it boot back up normally. We will see if any trojans or viruses are in your computer with this methode.Good luck. Please let me know what happens:)

When i turn my laptop on it goes through the start up process however when complete it just shows a blue screen with the windows logo, i cant access anything because there is no files, menus, nothing at...

its a little problem without the windows disk but try this steps.

Turn on the computer-while booting press the F8 key until you have an option to choose safemode.
then choose safemode, once on the safemode, if you have install somoething on your computer, try to uninstall it, if not then on the safemode try to back up your files.Scan for viruses and spyware.

If this may not work then I suggest you get a windows setup disk.

Infeced virous make folde in a folder.exe

The virus is called "Brontok" or "Rontok". Its much hard to get rid of it. It may cause ur computer to restart while opening any anti virus, cmd.exe, command.exe etc. Only way is to san the drive from some other computer with an updated anti virus.
Format driver with windows installation, instal windows, and install an anti virus before anything else ( do not open any drives except ur windows installation partition ) and get latest updates. Scan and remove virus.
