Check and replace damaged component/s at its pincushion correction circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

SOURCE: SONY KV-27FV310: UPPER HALF OF SCREEN IS BLACK

You have a vert sweep problem and unless you know how to trouble shoot this cuircit bring it to a pro. I found out mostly in these sets that the vert output IC is bad.. Also sometimes the b+ filter cap off the fly is leaky and made the IC to fail. Another thing is Im surprised to hear you got a pic with the vert failure and a bright line in the pic!! This could be a big problem when the sets fixed so dont run it too long like this. It could burn a line all the way across the screen and you will see a dark faint line in your pic because of this. BE CAREFULL!!

SOURCE: Sony Tv

make sure no magnets, (speakers) are close to tv.
Magnets attract the color. TV's used to have to be manually
"deguassed"(demagnetized) Look for magnets placed close to TV. Speakers have magnets in them. It might save you a repair bill.

SOURCE: Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-32HS500...red standby light blinks 6 ti

I have over 10 years experience in electronic tech support.

I know this isn't what you want to hear, but the problem you've described can't be fixed with
troubleshooting. Your TV will have to be repaired. There is a part that has developed a defect and needs to be replaced. If you're still in warranty, the TV will be repaired at no charge to you. The warranty would likely be at least one year from the date of purchase from the manufacturer. If you purchased an extended service plan they will repair the TV at no charge as well.

If the TV is no longer in warranty, it will likely cost a minimum of $150 parts and labor. This is assuming that you only need one
circuit board or small part. If the problem is more than one of the circuit boards, the price of repair could go much higher.

I hope I've provided you useful assistance and that this information allows you to make an informed decision as to how to proceed from here. Please be sure to vote on my response. I hope I've earned a good rating from you today.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

SOURCE: my picture is smaller than screen size..

I am having the same issue trying to stream web videos from my personal computer.
I discovered in the manual that the HDI input is not intended for use with personal computers, so I believe this is the cause. After trying to figure out any other options and pouring over the owner's manual and the web for a solution, I am resigned to the fact it is not possible to increase the picture size wehn inputting a PC.

Flatscreen tv picture has shrunk to the upper left side of the screen

The TV is in Picture-in-picture mode. The small picture is the last active source. The bigger area is the current source connection, but there's no signal.

Read the manual about how to operate the Picture in Picture feature.

Sony Wega Trinitron TV image has shrunk?

Check its main power regulator section circuit for any loose solder terminals. Low power regulator voltage output is the problem to your TV.

"VIDEO 3" ON SCREEN

It is normal for VIDEO 3 to be displayed in the upper left of the picture if there is no signal present at the INPUT 3 jacks. This is to let you know that although the picture is black and there is no sound, the TV is still on. If you have a good signal at INPUT 3 and the VIDEO 3 stays on the screen, take the Sony remote, point it at the TV and press the DISPLAY button until you see "DISPLAY OFF" on the screen. About 3 seconds later, the words should vanish.
