You have a vert sweep problem and unless you know how to trouble shoot this cuircit bring it to a pro. I found out mostly in these sets that the vert output IC is bad.. Also sometimes the b+ filter cap off the fly is leaky and made the IC to fail. Another thing is Im surprised to hear you got a pic with the vert failure and a bright line in the pic!! This could be a big problem when the sets fixed so dont run it too long like this. It could burn a line all the way across the screen and you will see a dark faint line in your pic because of this. BE CAREFULL!!

make sure no magnets, (speakers) are close to tv.
Magnets attract the color. TV's used to have to be manually
"deguassed"(demagnetized) Look for magnets placed close to TV. Speakers have magnets in them. It might save you a repair bill.

I
have over 10 years experience in electronic tech
support.
I
know this isn't what you want to hear, but the problem you've
described can't be fixed with troubleshooting.
Your TV
will have to be repaired. There is a part that has developed a defect
and needs to be replaced. If you're still in warranty, the TV will be
repaired at no charge to you. The warranty would likely be at least
one year from the date of purchase from the manufacturer. If you
purchased an extended service
plan
they will repair the TV at no charge as well.
If the TV is no
longer in warranty, it will likely cost a minimum of $150 parts and
labor. This is assuming that you only need one circuit
board
or small part. If the problem is more than one of the circuit boards,
the price of repair could go much higher.
I hope I've provided
you useful assistance and that this information allows you to make an
informed decision as to how to proceed from here. Please be sure to

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.
SOURCE: my picture is smaller than screen size..
I am having the same issue trying to stream web videos from my personal computer.
I discovered in the manual that the HDI input is not intended for use with personal computers, so I believe this is the cause. After trying to figure out any other options and pouring over the owner's manual and the web for a solution, I am resigned to the fact it is not possible to increase the picture size wehn inputting a PC.
