Turns on but turns right back off

It might be a lense problem. Dirt and things get stuck in the lense real easily. hold the lense while you tuen it on and when it turns off hold the lens out.. wiggle it gently while turning it upside down... tap it gently upside down.... or blow int he lens to try and get the dirt disloged.

Broke lense

that depends on if you want to spend more than the camera is worth. The labor involved in replacing a lens would probably buy you a new camera. This is difficult because it is not just one lens, it is a series of lenses, which have to be removed from the camera, and then calibrated to make sure that, for instance, they focus properly in all zoom ranges. This is a very time consuming job, that I would only consider for a $1000+ Zeiss lens for an SLR.

When i turn on the camera the lens wont pop open even when the battery is fully charged.... i was taking pictures and it working fine turn the camera off and on again then the lens wont open anymore? i can...

The problem is
1- some dirt somehow got on the outside of the lense. After it was retracted fully in, it prevents the camera from opening again. When you turn it on, if it opens a little bit, try to pull it out NOT too hard and let go a few times. If it opened, clear the outside of the lense. Your camera should be back to normal.
2- If you droped the camera, you probably damaged or dislocated a mechanical part of the lense. You may have to take out the lense by unscrewing it and inspect it for damged parts or disconnected cable. Make sure clean the lense and test it by moving it in and out a few times, before puting it back on the camera.

Good luck!!!!!!!

MX1063 will turn on and lens comes out, but immediately turns off and lens goes back in. I charged it for hours and still nothing.

The outside of the lense may be dirty. When it comes out clean it. Or something else prevents it from fully opening. If it is clean, you might have droped it and damaged or broke mechanical part(s) of your lense. When it opens, try to hold the lense open, do not force it. If the did not help, take out the lense from the camera and inspect the lense. look for broken, or bent parts. Clean it and push the lense in and out. If it moves in and out without any problem, put it back on your camera. If the problem was from the lense, your camera should be back to normal.

Good luck!!!!!!!

Jammed lens

When you turn it off, does the lense go up and down. If yes good news. while turning the camera off press on the lense very softly (up and down motion) until the lense retracts 100% or almost 100%. you may have to try a few times. if almost 100% retracted, push the lense a little harder in, untill it retracts all the way in. Turn it back on, it should work now. If you do not keep your lense clean you get that problem. After you droped it, some mechanical part on the lense may have broken or dislocated. In this case you have to open the lense inspect the parts, clean them and puth them back together.

In camera or video mode it says turn the power off and on again

The problem is
1- some dirt somehow got on the outside of the lense. After it was retracted fully in, it prevents the camera from opening again. When you turn it on, if it opens a little bit, try to pull it out NOT too hard and let go a few times. If it opened, clear the outside of the lense. Your camera should be back to normal.
If the lense does not retract, but goes up and down when you turn it on or off, Clean the sides of the lense and while turning the camera off push the lense in NOT too hard for a few times. If it retrected 100% or most of the way inn, push the in a little harder untill it is 100% retracted in. Now your camera should be back to normal. 2- If you droped the camera, you probably damaged or dislocated a mechanical part of the lense. You may have to take out the lense by unscrewing it and inspect it for damaged parts or disconnected cable. Droped Nikon COOLPIX S10, after the lense would not focus.

WITH THE CAMERA YOU HAVE , IT IS BEST TO GET ANOTHER ONE BECAUSE THE LABOR AND PARTS EXCEED THE VALUE OF THE CAMERA .
tHE NEW CAMERAS ARE OLD WITH BETTER FEATURES AND EVEN LESS MONEY .
THE LENSE BARREL ASSEMBLY IS PRETTY EXPENSIVE .

How to set up 50 mm lenst for wedding photos .. and flash

Sorry this is too late, perhaps it will be useful to others. I hope you used a different lens for the wedding!

You can't use the 50mm 1.8 lens on the D40x unless you focus manually. This is because the D40x only supports autofocus with AF-S and AF-I lenses. The focus motor and drive mechanism for other AF lenses was omitted to make the camera smaller, lighter and cheaper.
