- Thank you for trying to help, but the problem is still there, I followed your Instructions but it says no Audio Device, the Volume area is shaded so I cant alter anything. Window Audio says startup automatic,so there is no problem with that, I dont know much about tecnical things,but would really appreciate help, Thanks a lot.
Check that sound is not on mute...click on the sound icon in your task bar and check through for checkmarks on mute....
Your audio service may not be started...
Go to Start>> Run>> type in services.msc.
A window will pop up with a list of services. Scroll down to Windows Audio>> Right-click>>Properties.
Make sure that 'Startup' is set to automatic. Click Apply and okay...Now check the startup status under services..Make sure it says started. If not look to the left and click start service...
Hope this helps...

- A couple of other solutions that may help...
* Are the drivers installed...?
Go to manufacturers site and download the audio driver
* Check that your sound theme is set...
Go to Start/Control Panel/Sounds and make sure that your sound settings are set to Windows Default (or one of your choice).

(More)
Umax 2200 usb scanner & Vistascan 3.55u in Windows XP Scanner installs to the default XP scanning software, but I have not been able to install the scanner so that it works with the Vistascan software. I much prefer Vistascan as it is much more user friendly & offers more flexibility. Any help would be appreciated.
