I live in Italy and would like to buy an Ipad. i live in an area without internet access except by cell. I use TIM, an Italian telecom service for my dial up connection. The device in the house is a cell modem that provides wireless connectivity in the house. Which IPAD is the best one for me to buy? Do i need an IPAD wireless or wireless and cell?
An iPad with WIFI only will do as you have wireless connectivity:

If you have the iPod software 2.2 or 2.2.1 you shouldn't need to set it up as "other." It should already be there along with the Microsoft Exchange, MobileMe, Yahoo, AOL options. All you need to enter to finishing the setup is your full name, email address, password, and a description of the account if you wish.

If it refuses to connected to any networks and you have done a hard reset, , you have a broken logic board and should take it to the apple store. If they won't help you, You can try to replace the part yourself, it is available on any auction website. There is an iPad Repair service that can fix it for you, but if you're a little tech savy you should use an iPad repair guide that teaches you how to do the repair yourself.

Hi there,
To be perfectly honest, I'm pretty sure you can't just fix an antennae onto an iPad and expect to get better signal. RF antenna are highly complicated things that are finely tuned. The iPads' WiFi antenna is behind it's black Apple logo, and if you have a 3G iPad the 3G antenna is inside the little black bar at the top of the back of the iPad. You could have a go at attaching your cable on there, but I very much doubt it's going to have much of an effect.
Hope that helps, good luck!

I was very happy when I got my hands on the new iPad. I didn't notice this at first, but when I took the tablet into my backyard, and my iPhone was able to pick up my router signal without a hassle; the iPad didn't pick up the network at all. This became a nightmare for me. A friend suggested trying the "Forget This Network" reset method, which used to work on the older models, but this didn't improve the wifi range at all. Right when I lost all hope, I came across WIRED magazine and found a review of Pong Research cases, After seeing the great feedback on their products, I bought one and it finally solve the new iPad 3 wifi issues . The back cover has a built-in antenna in between its layers, which redirects and boosts the signals and range, allowing me to getting connected from much further away.
