Question about Creative Labs ZEN Vision:M Digital Media Player

Rhapsody Freezing up with Creative Zen Vision M

Suddenly I am unable to play my subscription music, from Rhapsody, on my Creative Zen Vision M 30GB. Can't update the licenses. So I went to Rhapsody and we find that even when the ZEN is not connected, I cannot completely download any new songs onto my HP computer (Windows XP Professional). Right near the end of the download it always freezes at "1 minute remaining") Rhapsody says that unless I can get a 100% download, there will never be a license renewal sent to my CREATIVE ZEN. I suspect this is a Rhapsody problem, maybe working with Windows Media Player 11, and probably not Creative, but who knows. Rhapsody support (earnest) in Chennai cannot help. Nothing works: I have (a) removed spybot and McAffee virus (b) gotten rid of all temporary files, (c) tried every possible re-set with Rhapsody, (4) erased and re-installed Rhapsody, etc. My music sits on the CREATIVE device unplayable. No one seems able to help. Any ideas? Yes, this is pretty specific, and if Rhapsody has given up (given up me as a customer they understand), I have slim hopes. Thanks. John in Washington DC

Re: Rhapsody Freezing up with Creative Zen Vision M

I have found that it works if I dump all mp3:s in one directory, the freeze only happens if \Music has a lot of subdirectories. Weirdness! The drawback is that synching seems to be a lot slower with all mp3:s in one directory.

tried doing a cleanup, reformatting, and reloading firmware,

  1. Gently push the end of a thin object (such as a pin or straightened paperclip) into the Reset hole.
The reset button for your player is located at the bottom of the player, to the left of the sync adapter port.

  2. Refer to the article below to access the recovery mode and perform a Clean Up.

SID 64088: Accessing the Recovery/Rescue Mode of your Player

    1. Clean Up scans a player\'s hard disk/memory card and removes any invalid links from the music library. It does not affect the working music files at all. It is recommended that you perform "Clean Up" first before formatting or reloading the player\'s firmware.

    2. It is advisable for you to clean up your player regularly if you are frequently transferring files from you computer to your player or vice versa.

DJ Play All Shuffle Kepps Stopping

I would access the recovery menu on your Vision:M, and run a clean up. This won't erase anything, and this usually will fix it.
To access the recovery console on your Vision:M:
Disconnect the player from your PC, and make sure the battery is not low, if the battery is low, you're going to need to recharge it first.
Next, Slide the Power switch towards the Power icon and hold the switch in the Power On position.
Next, Push a straightened paper clip into the reset hole, press gently and remove (all while holding the switch in the Power on position). The recovery menu should now come up, again run a clean up first, as this usually resolves issues without deleting your files.

C cover art does not transfer to my zen vision m, only the music tracks transfer

for more details

Creative ZEN players do not currently support album art from Rhapsody version 4.0.
Album art is either embedded in a track, or exists as a thumbnail image in a separate file, allowing one album art file to be associated with an album. Currently, Rhapsody only supports album art embedded in the track. Future versions of Rhapsody are expected to support thumbnail versions.
Creative Media Explorer or Windows Media Player 10 or 11 can be used to transfer music purchased from Rhapsody to a player with album art included.

Album Art is supported by Creative ZEN, Creative ZEN V Plus, ZEN V, Vision:M and ZEN Vision players.
The ZEN Vision (PF1150) requires a firmware update for Album Art. You can download the updated firmware:
If you experience any difficulty transferring Album Art with Windows Media Player 10 or 11, to ZEN Vision:M, delete WMPInfo.xml (see below), and then transfer the tracks again.

Creative Zen Troubles

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

Zen Vision M freezing during music upload.

Try to add your music a bit at a time instead of your whole library at once. That will freeze it. You can also try sync with Window's Media Player, which works a lot better than the Creative software.
