Xbox 360 screen freezes in the middle of a game at random

There are two possible solutions to this issue. One the data that you downloaded either got corrupted during transfer somehow or during a resent save. You should delete all the iformation off your hard drive and start fresh. If this doesnt work try takeing off your hard drive and playing Halo3 if it deosnt freeze you will need to either try the delete method or get a new HD.

If this doesnt solve your issue then it is very possible that your system is headed for the red rings of death. My system was fried after i had played assasins creed. It would freeze up and create this checker pattern on my back ground my system shortly after went red ring.

Well on Oct 31, yes Halloween My sons XBox 360 started freezing up randomly in Halo 3. All day after a few minutes of play. Then trying Hard boot Game would freeze on on logo screen. Tryed different disk would still have problem. Boot without a disk boots ok. Tryed running demo games on line without using disk. Same thing. Unplug and repluged. Clean out cache same thing. The Next morning I turned on Xbox 360 to check status freezed on boot at logo screen, Almost gave up till my wife suggested to check memory. Had 2 gbs left of a 20 gb hard drive. So We deleted demos and other junk to get more memory. Then we cleaned cache again which clears out upgrades and ...well guess what It worked. When we booted halo 3 upgrade loaded again and played game all day and no problems since. Not quite sure if it was just a bad upgrade ....or download...or lack of memory but all is well. hope this might help others with this random freeze problem with no error code. good luck!

Xbox seems to be freezing up no red rings just random freezing. I noticed a whining sound coming from the brick ( power supply ) and air was not moving through. The power supply seemed as if it was also running hotter then usually. So I stuck it in the freezer for about 20 minutes. Then plugged it back in I hard what sounded like the fan breaking free. Bingo! Works great! worked for months It stuck one more time, did the same procedure, works great no problem since. I believe a lot of these xbox problems are do to the power supply. When they over heat there is no fault indication especially when the fan jams in the power supply. Hope this helps. Good Luck

does it only do it for halo 3? you might have just happen to have a problem starting around the time you updated

sounds like the the processor is over heating and its causing the system to shut down before it burned up the board. basicly your thermal paste between your processor and the heatsink isnt doing its job. there could be a crack on it might have just degraded over time.

this can cause the system to freeze or see things ont he screen. it needs to be repaired before more issues happen.
