Question about Philips HTS3450 System

No sound on my PhilipsDVP642/37 DVD Player

I have had the above DVD player about a year and suddenly there is no sound. The video works, it is not the discs - I have checked them on another player I have and they work. I have removed all of the connections and reconnected everything. I checked the mute and everything I can think of. Can you help me? I know they are very inexpensive, so should I just purchase another one? Thanks

I am having the same problem. The dvd's play but there is no sound.

  • caseman79 Nov 26, 2007

All of the sound has quit. To begin with, it started making a static sound and would then work. Now no sound will come out of it all. The little light on the subwoofer is red when it is off, but when you turn it on the light goes off instead of changing to green. I have checked the continuity on the cable and it is ok. The problem has to be in the subwoofer or the controller.

My dvd player suddenly stopped working. It won't

Sounds like the disk acceptor motor or ejector is jammed, from the iteam listed above this is a combo unit. If you inclined you can go inside and check the enjector unit it may need to be repaired.

Now if this is under warranty you may want to take it in. Even out of warranty would be a execlent option. For any tv repair man to fix this would be $120 parts only labot your looking $35/hour time spend on this 1.5 hours..

But it sounds liek you got a jammed ejector unit and that you will need to go inside. I would not call this work for a end user because there is unwanted voltage and what not inside. So you might for a temp fix get a dvd seperate unit and hook it up to the video inputs on the unit for the temp fix.

Thanks please do be considerate and leave you postive feedback and ratings.

Can I connect a blu-ray player to the hometheatre system?

Technically, yes but not so it would yield BD-quality audio or video. You need a control receiver that accepts either HDMI/DVI INPUT for 720I and above video. The digital audio in will probably suffice.

I have an old Zenith Digital Surround System the Receivver is a Model Z763B with a DVD Player/Recorder connected. When I play a DVD or VHS the sound can be heard through the TV and the Sound System,...

I have the same A/V receiver and in my setup there is an audio output (red and white able) coming from DVD player directly into Zenith Z763B. The video from DVD Player goes to TV input (yellow cable).
There might be alternatives to the setup mentioned above but I like to watch movie in a surround sound, rather than output from TV.

Sudden loss of picture, sound comes though ok

It sounds like the exact same problem that my son recently created. The only solution I've determined is to reset the player to it's default settings. Although it took a little while (since the video display was not present), I finally found the right combination of buttons to push on the remote and now the problem is fixed. Insert a disk, then push the following buttons: Stop, Stop, System/Menu, >, >, >, v, v, v, v, v, >, OK

After the above sequence of buttons, the main player screen should reappear on the tv.

Dvd no picture just sound

When you say No picture?? s the Picture all black Like theres no video? Try checking the video input on the tv or the cables from the player. If the inputs and cables are bad then theres a poroblem in the video processor in the dvd player and the only way to vix that would be to get a schematic diagram and a scope and trace out the video and see where it disapears. Good Luck
