What type of oil do I use on my craftsman 550 push

Almost all drain plugs are under the deck. Some are a 4 sided nut sticking out and some are an inner plug (looks like an allen shape plug)

on push mower i run them out of gas turn it on its side and drain it from the dip stick tube

there is a drain on the bottom of the mower but its easier to run it out of gas and then turn it on its side and drain it from the dip stick hole

How is your compression? If it is low, your piston rings and/or the cylinder walls could be damaged and pulling oil up to the combustion chamber, which will burn oil and foul the plug. If you overfill the oil you could possibly get this also. When was the last time that you changed the oil and/or put oil in it? Do you currently have proper oil level?

Poulon 550 yellow 22" Briggs and Stratton. It looks like you have to drain it out the cap by tipping it. There IS no plug on mine - spent 40 minutes looking for one, and I know what both types of the plug look like. What a lousy design. This mower is a piece of junk. The valve froze a week after I got it. Never again. A headache.

Sounds like wet fuel! The priming puts enough gas in to start it but the running circuit does not.

Check your gas can for a layer of water on the bottom of it. If it has a lot of water in it you should dispose of this fuel at a gas station that collects used oil and gas. Drain the mower and take that gas away too.

Put in fresh gas from a known clean and dry source.

SONDS LIKE A FULE PROBLEM IT MAY NEED THE CARB CLEAND MAY HAVE BAD GAS

10w-30 oil. The only grease fittings I know of are on the front wheels and axles.
