You have to find the correct code. There should be instructions with the remote you purchased.

It is my understanding the xfinity remote is designed only to control comcast set top box and TVs. It also can control audio receivers. It is unlikely you can control a DVD player with it.

At best you could try and use the programming instructions on page 5 of the manual and see if it picks up your DVD player. Otherwise it might be better to use the existing remote controller you have and program the Comcast set top box to it. You need to find the codes from the programming instructions of the original remote control and you will also need to know the model number of your comcast box.

Hi, make sure you Comcast remote is in the "DVD" mode before attempting to work the DVD features. If it is still not working. You need to reprogram your Comcast remote to a different Magnavox DVD code because the code it is currently set for not fully compatible. If you need the instructions to reprogram your Comcast remote go here. If you would like to purchase a new Magnavox DVD player remote you can also search on Replacement Remotes for your DVD player's model number located on the back of the unit. If they have it, it will show for purchase.

There is a 4-5 digit code for television/dvd/vcrs that you need to input on the remote control via its programming sequence in order to use it with your tv/dvd player.

The programming is usually done by pressing and holding 2 buttons on the remote until you see a flashing light on the remotes LED then by inputting the necessary code.

Hi, did the remote came together with the TV and DVD or if separately you need a universal remote that has functions for both devices. you don't need to set it up, just look at the functions on the remote an use it depending on which device you intend to use.

Try holding down the tv power button and keep holding it while you press the channel button until your tv comes in.. It takes a few pushes. Make sure your tv is off first though.

try one of the following options:
1.Turn the Player ON. Open the player's disc lid. Press 0, 0, 0, on the remote control. A Region Management dialogue is displayed on the LCD screen, complete with instructions! Press 0 on the remote to make the player region free. Press Pause on the remote to exit.
2.Remove any discs and turn on the unit.
Press PAUSE from your remote.
Enter 314159
The hidden region code menu will now appear.
Set the new region - 0 for region free, 1 for region 1 etc
Press PAUSE to save.
