If the compressor doesn't run, it is likely that the defrost timer is malfunctioning. This part is located near the compressor. To test the defrost timer:
Step 1: Unplug the refrigerator.
Step 2: Disconnect the wires from the timer and timer motor. Remove the timer from its brackets by backing out two retaining screws.
Step 3: Test the defrost timer with a VOM set to the RX1 scale. Clip one probe of the VOM to each defrost timer -- not motor -- wire, and turn the timer control screw shaft until it clicks. If the defrost timer is functioning, the meter will read zero. If the needle jumps, the defrost timer is faulty. Replace it with a new one of the same type.
Step 4: Connect the new defrost timer the same way the old one was connected.
To check the defrost timer motor, clip one probe of the VOM to each motor wire, setting the scale to RX100. If the meter reads between about 500 and 3,000 ohms, the motor is functioning properly. If the meter reads higher than 3,000 ohms, the timer motor is faulty. Replace it with a new one of the same type. Connect the new motor the same way the old one was connected.

Your refrigerator may be stuck in defrost cycle. I know it has a defrost timer part number 215846602 Most times they are located inside the fresh food compartment behind the control panel. Sometimes below fridge and behind kick plate. The thermostat could be defective also. You can check that by unplugging the refrigerator remove cover and checking continuity between the two male connections located on the rear side of thermostat control turned as cold as you can turn it. Or you can join the two wires together and plug refrigerator back in to see if compressor comes on. When you find the defrost time turn clockwise slowly until the refrigerator starts. If these don't work let me know and we will do some more test. Sea Breeze

This fridge may be lacking the chemical called freon, a typical coolant agent used in refrigirators, try to replace the coolant, and then let the fridge run some time. It should be back on cooling as normal...:)

Removed the door switch. Tested OK. Removed fan; tested OK. Put back together and it worked. However, the fan for a moment had a sound like loose bearings, so I ordered a new one.

when you open the freezer door do you hear the fan blowing, could have a bad evap fan motor, also remove the second bin from the bottom and touch the back wall,if there's snow or frost there you have a defrost problem, could have a bad adaptive defrost board in the fridge section or a bad heater, defrost thermostat, take off the back wall inside the freezer, melt out all the ice with hair dryer, check the heater with a meter and t-stat,you should change out the thermostat anyway, you can cut the wires close to the t-stat,connect the wires so you bypass the t-stat,if the heater doesn't come on change out the adaptive defrost board,i think you click the lite switches 5 times to make it go into defrost,if it doesn't it's probably the board, look at the tech sheet behind the bottom kick plate, hope this helps
