I have a 1997 ford E 150 customize mark 3 van have driven back and forth to work 5 years ran great Christmas Day drove down to the garage and back up to house and now it will not start turns over has spark will not fire
You would need to figure out if the problem is too much air or not enough fuel. The carb has three internal circuits - - idle, cruise, and accelerate. Fuel flows thru each circuit from the bowl to the venturi. You could have a vac leak that is allowing too much air to enter the intake, or the idle circuit on the carb may not be adjusted correctly after the engine warms up. Or it could be something else.
Cuts out when throttled in park or in gear if gear and cuts out cam can be blamed. Gas motor put a quart of tranny fluid in gas tank and run it it will clean valves
How long since a tune-up? Any applicable trouble codes? If temp related check the coolant temp sensor. Sometimes ford calls it a cylinder head temp sensor. I'd also use a gage and check proper fuel pressure.
Generally this is a fuel / air ratio problem. Usually it can be solved by a carb adjustment.
On the carb there are usually two screws, one marked low or L , the other marked high or H.
Low is your adjustment for idle mixture, high is for mixture at full throttle. The saw should
Always be adjusted to run well during the cut. Make adjustments a little at a time, then try
The saw. Continue small adjustments untill the saw is performing well at full throttle while
Cutting.
not the computer what is going on is that the fuel cut off solenoid when you switch to lp / reg gas either lost its voltage and it not opening and also check the air gap at the top of the mixer head on the throttle body and this!! info comes from a man with 40 years in LP gas installer with a class 10 licence on LP and natural gas servicing and repairs >>ME!
Hello. katienjoe. the fuel line from the filter to the fuel rail has a restrictor in the line its at the fitting at the rail. the opening messures 3/16 of a inch. so loaded it doesn't pull above 50 mph. you can change the line I did on mine the hot rod shops can supply what you need.
I believe on those you have one of 2 things malfunctioning, either the throttle pedal position sensor which is part of the throttle pedal assy, or your throttle position sensor on your throttle body at engine. I would get some electrical contact spray cleaner and pull connector off at gas pedal assy & spray it well with that cleaner to see if it makes any difference. There is a way to test if you have someone knowledgable with an ohmeter/multimeter, but in meantime try a good cleaning to see if that help.
Just trowing some suggestions out there, but, I would check the idle air control valve (solenoid) or the throttle position sensor. If they check out then my last guess would be the map sensor or the vaccuum to the map sensor. Hope I was able to help. Best wishes.
