You hold the POWER button on the top of iPhone and the HOME button together for at least 30sec.

A hard reset is done by pressing the home key(button in the middle) and the power onf/off button on the top of the phone at the same time, IGNORING the slide to turn off display until the White apple logo appears and then let go when u see that logo. Allow a few sec or so for the phone to go back to the stand by screen
