may i ask why this was rated as inappropriate? the link i provided is the majority of known codes for the area, including chatham. as far as programming the scanner, all scanners are different, the owner's manual for your particular scanner can be found here.

the quick way is as follows:
    1) press "pgm", pgm appears on the display, press the channel you want to programm (1-200), press "pgm" again
    2) use the number keys and "delay/." to enter the frequency including decimal point
    3) press enter to store the frequency

    hope this helps

The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

I have a pro 23 hand held scanner it scan but I only pick to weather channel. Thanks, George

You will need to program in your local channels - ANALOG ONLY will work, not Digital. I suggest you go to "Radio Refererence DOT com" and go to their database; select your state, then your county, and it will list many frequencies for you to program to your radio. Also, SOME, not many, but SOME, Radio Shacks actually have a ham radio guy working there that can help you program your radio or help you 'CLONE' it from another identical radio. Good luck, and let me know how it goes. Happy New Year my friend.

I have a uniden bearcat hand held scanner sportcat, which for some reason has lost its memory, is there any way to program it

You didn't specify the model number of your scanner, so here's a link to a list of available Uniden scanner manuals. If your model number is listed, just click on the "Product Details" column to download/print the manual. It will provide detailed programming instructions.

I need to program my realistic police scanner.

for your frequency, go to the local radio shack and ask them to look up the frequency. If you have nothing to fear from your local jurisdiction, go directly to them and ask for the frequency. Programming is the easy part and obtaining the frequency not difficult.

If you don't have on already, you need a copy of your local Police fire Med Scanner frequenicies, after the intruction manual has step by step directions for programming those codes in. If you don't have the manual, go to and type 20-527 into the search bar. towards the bottom of the screen it should have a link for the owners manual. ALternatley click the porduct support tab.
