We have a 30 bottle Danby wine cooler (DWC283BLS), about 2 years old. The cooler seems to be doing perfect at keeping the temperatures in both compartments. However, there seems to be a persistent hum of what I am thinking could be the compressor running non stop, 24 hrs a day. We can't recall it running so persistently. I did try unplugging the cooler for about an hour and plugging it back in to see if it would in essence reset itself. No change in performance however, I still hear some motor running and running.
I assume that when desired temperatures are reached everything should shut down and be quiet. Does that sound right or has there always been something running quietly in the background even after the desired temperatures are achieved and it is just now getting to making a persistent noise that we can hear as it gets older? Thanks for any insights.

I have the same cooler with the same problem and I've been researching this for several months now to no avail. It worked trouble free for over seven years before having problems. My local "authorized" Danby repair dealer advised me to: "Chuck it out, the parts are too hard to come by and it's impossible to get any parts or response from Danby". I attempted to contact Danby on my own and their 800 help line is non-responsive/non-existent. Be advised that Danby appears to have become just a middle-man importer now; the units are manufactured in China. Since I've had a problem finding a wine cooler that looks as good as this one that fits in the slot I have for it in my kitchen I decided to try repairing it myself. I've replaced the circuit board/display and the thermistors with parts obtained through Sears, and the compressor still gets hot and the inside upper and lower temp. will not cool below 61- 64 degrees (+/- 2 deg.), respectively. All the fans are working properly, so I know it's not a fan, thermostat (circuit board) or thermistor problem. I think now it's either the compressor or else a thermoelectric element. I doubt if it is a refrigerant leak because that is least likely in a closed system like this. My only recourse now is to take it in to the local repair shop and have them take a look at those two items or keep looking for a replacement. Hope this helps. Good luck!

It doesn't state if there is in home service or not. But those are the three service locations that are listed in your area.
The price looks fine for my area its about a 3 hour job done properly. you should consider a new wine cooler and cut your losses because if their only replacing the compressor they should be replacing the cap tube and liquid drier if the cap tube is not replaced could be a waste of money
Welcome to fixya. I'm Huuum and happy to assist you, Go to where you bought it, and ask them to replace it with a new one. more than likely you will not have a problem ! If they talk around it and want to send service again, tell them replace it or you will stop your charge and never buy another thing in their store. WE the retailers are at the mercy of the charge cards, that if they stop payment , or pull the money back out of our accounts, can do nothing about it but satisfy you the customer to get re payed!
This will SOLVE your problem. You do have a 1 year warranty, but never wait!!!!!!!!! Do it now!!!
Happy to help. You will get a replacement from the store or Danby! Just be calm & sweet and nice. Not angry or even raise your voice!!
I Know you will be 100 % satisfied! "It is easier to keep the customers you have than find new ones!"
Please remember to leave me a "Solved" rating before you go! Thank you, Huuum
