I cannot connect to my wirelss network after resetting my wireless router. The laptop will not obtain an ip address and will not connect to the internet. Please help
A few question first: If you go to "View Wireless networks" (see display below), does your router's SSID show up? Note: This assumes you have "Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings" checked. If another wireless connection manager is being used you will need to check available networks using that utility. Some notebooks have a button or switch that will physically disable wireless. Some IBM/Lenovo Thinkpads, for instance, have a switch on the 'front' edge, just below the touchpad. One other question: Have you applied any Windows updates, or hardware/driver updates, lately? There may be a conflict that needs to be dealt with.

Strange issue, hopefully someone can help: I'm trying to help someone get setup on a new computer; this person has some old DOS programs that he uses. One of the programs, Professional Write, will open up in a window, but when you change the shortcut and click Full Screen, it comes up with an error when you try to open the program; "The NTVDM CPU has encountered and illegal instruction. CS:s000 IP:0096 OP: ff ff ff ff ff Choose 'Close' to terminate the program" I have searched this on Google and have tried replacing the config.net, autoexec.net and command.com from the windows
epair folder, as well as expand them from the windows disc. This worked on his old computer with XP, and the new computer is XP. It is brand new and hasn't been online, so there is no virus or spyware. He also has an old DOS version of Quicken, and that one opens to full screen just fine. The settings in the .pif shortcut are the same for Professional Write and Quicken.
