This is purely down to the scanner settings. In the scan settings, choose the resolution and if to scan in monochrome (or B&W) or colour. SAVE the settings. Try a rescan and you should find that will work.
You will need to replace the empty color cartridge to get the flashing to stop.
However you should still be able to print in BW. Check that the applications you are running are set to BW and not color in the configuration menu. That should permit you to print in BW only.
you can try to take out the color cartridge and set your printer settings to use blank ink or print in black only, then try to print again. Feel free to rate if this was useful/helpful.
select b/w or auto color select on the left side of touch screen then find and press the program button "I belive it is above the number buttons"
There should be a selection called "program as default" select that and follow the prompts all the way through that should do it
you need to clean of reflection glasses of lens so if you are handy on it then take off fron scanning glass and take out glasses and clean the out with clean cloths.
and put them back.
note: if you are not aware of it please do not mess up with them because it will be more annoying.
Check the automatic brightness and color settings by doing the following:
Click Settings , click Scan Settings and Preferences , then click Preferences .
Enable or disable (depending on their current state) the Automatically adjust exposure and/or Automatically adjust color settings.
Click OK .
Expand the scan preview by clicking the arrow on the right, and then adjust the Color settings prior to performing a final scan.
Sometimes the scan will pick up reflected colors, try rotating the original 90 degrees and then scan again.
All models except the PSC 1100 and 1200: If the scan still is not right, try resetting the all-in-one back to the factory default settings. Follow these steps to reset the defaults:
Press Setup or Menu depending on your model.
Press the Right Arrow or the Down Arrow until Maintenance or Tools appears in the Display, and then press Enter .
Press the Right Arrow or the Down Arrow until Restore Factory Defaults appears in the Display, and then press Enter .
Reset the all-in-one by unplugging the power cord and then plugging it back in. This will force the all-in-one to recalibrate
You don't have to replace them as a set unless there both empty. You could try resetting the printer by unplugging it, wait 30 seconds, replug it back in, and turn the power on.
