SOURCE: 6.5 toro walk behind self propell b&s engine.

Try adjusting your self propel cable. A slight extension of the cable (1/4 inch) will double speed, so do a little at a time. Take the back guard off and clean debris 2 or 3 screws and it is just a cover so nothing will pop out unless that is your real problem. You should have grease fittings behind rear wheels so squirt 2 times with grease gun in each wheel and 1 squirt every 3rd mow.

SOURCE: I have a 5 year old Toro mower. No spark at the plug. Now what?

Hi there
If you don't have spark that means you have a bad ignition coil . To locate the ignition coil just follow the spark plug wire . First try to readjust the coil because with the time most of the coils goes loose with the vibration . The coil should have 2 bolts holding it against the flywheel . To readjust get a piece of paper and put it betwen the coil and flywhell and retight the bolts , remove the paper and see if there's spark , if not you have to replace the coil.
Hope this help

Toro 6.5 HP Self propelled walk behind 22

take the top cover off the engine. you will see the coil on top there. unplug the wire that plugs into it. put the cover back on and try to start it. if it starts it is not the coil. try a different spark plug first. pull the cord with the plug out to get all the gas out of the engine.

19-95 KLF300 ATV Kawasaki 4x4 no spark put new ignitor unit on.

You said the motor cut out and popped and backfired when it quit, this is almost always one of two things; either the low speed pulse coil or the actual CDI "black" box. You will almost never lose a main coil. One thing I would also check to make sure did not happen is shearing a flywheel mag key. When the motor backfires you can easily shear a mag key if you have a heavy flywheel, (external). However when this happens you don't usually lose spark but it will certainly cause the backfire.
One other item of importance is that the bike you are in question about does not emit a bright spark when you are checking for fire. Make sure you are using a brand new plug and ground it on the head. Try to make sure you are in a dark environment when you check the spark.
