I had a paper jam with paper stuck so that it was under the bottom of the front cover which at first did not show. When I finally found it I pulled it out and the whole sheet did come out. However, the door now will not close - it makes it to a couple of inches from closing but balks and I think even if I forced it it would not close. I have looked at parts diagrams and don't see any parts that would readily seem to offer a fix for this problem. There is a black strap that retracts when the door is closed; the one on the left is intact and works, the one on the right is not attached and has nothing to attach to. I can push it in and out of the machine but it doesn't seem to have anythign to do with the fact that the door now doesn't seem to fit. Any ideas, please?

Re: front cover won't close
The only thing that may be possible is that the drive for the toner cartridge has not reset remove the toner cartridge and close door if the door closes without the cartridge in switch off wait 10 seconds switch on open door and install cartridge hopefully you will be able to close the door now. If you cannot open remove cartridge again and I believe on the left hand side you will see a funny looking gear if you can turn it or just push it in. Failing this it will need to be stripped and rebuilt as the door strap as you have put it is out of position.
Hope this is of some help to you and please rate me Cheers J

For all jam messages, do the following: 1. Remove jammed print media from the specified location. Check the entire paper path for other pieces of media in the path. 2. Open and close the top cover to clear the message. 3. Check sensors and flags in the paper path for proper operation.
Hi conniebrown you may be using a card that is too heavy for the machine check the specifications that you card is within the recommended guidelines of not use a lower weight card. Also make sure that you are putting the card through the tray 1 unit and that on the driver properties you have selected card stock. Try this I hope it works for you.
Hi Guest you may have a piece of paper stuck under that registration unit open front cover remove the transfer unit and also remove the toner cartridges. Once this is done at the bottom you will see where the paper guides through (Black unit with green piece in the middle) close the front door half way then you will be able to lift that unit up and check underneath it. There is normally a small piece of paper there causing your jam.
