My laptop compaq presario C700 windows 8.1. When i double click D-drive folder, then open cd/dvd rom.Can not open right edge corner. how to solve this problem ?

Click start control panel administration tools computer management device manager scroll down cd-dvd rom drives you might see a yellow question /exclamation mark ? ! or a red X right click to update driver You might have to physically unplug the leads for this cd/dvd restart your computer then plug them back this should activate the found new hardware wizard If this does not fix the problem it might be a registry problem "you only need to do the following" if you cant see your disk drive in windows explorer Close all open programs Click on Start, Run, and type regedit and press Enter Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SYSTEM CurrentControlSet Control Class {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. After deleting the keys, close the registry editor
Reboot your computer

It could be a problem with the lens you could use a liquid type lens cleaner place 2-3 drops on top of a cd/dvd then run it

make sure that the cd/dvd rom is getting enough power test all leads that are attached to the dvd including electrical extensions and make sure they have a secure connection or just replace them there might be bad/faulty or
your drivers may have been corrupted or you might have a virus run your antivrus program
you might have to physically unplug the leads for this cd/dvd rw then plug them back in or
you might have to uninstall then reinstall your DVD/CD or uninstall the driver then reinstall for this device

put the the drivers cd into the dvd/cd rom drive. click start navigate to the my computer, double click on that you will see the DVD/CD Rom drive, double click it to activate it, follow the instructions as it come,

error when opening dvd rom

Let me give this a shot.

1. Right click on MY COMPUTER from your desktop.
2. Click PROPERTIES
3. I assume you're using WIN2K so click the HARDWARE tab.
4. Click DEVICE MANAGER.
5. Under M700 it should be the 5th item down I believe. DVD/CD-ROM drives.
6. Expand that listing. You most likely have a yellow exclamation point there, yes?
7. Right click on Compaq DVD-ROM SD C2402 and if the option is there please click ENABLE. If your option is DISABLE please continue reading.
8. Right click on Compaq DVD-ROM SD C2402 again. This time click PROPERTIES.
9. The 3rd tab is DRIVER. Please click that.

(PAUSE HERE AND LEAVE THOSE PROPERTY WINDOWS OPEN)

10. Double click on MY COMPUTER on your desktop and proceed to your C:WINNTsystem32
11. In the folder C:WINNTsystem32drivers you are most likely missing redbook.sys and cdrom.sys  In the folder C:WINNTsystem32 you are missing storprop.dll (I HAVE BOTH FILES BUT MY FILE SHARING SITE IS DOWN.)

12. After the files get placed in the appropriate locations return to the DRIVER tab of the PROPERTIES window. From here or from the ADD NEW HARDWARE wizard of your laptop you'll be able to search for a suitable driver and barring some other crazy reason for this happening you'll now have those files.

To install audio / modem drivers, first download and install Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) Bus Driver for High Definition Audio (sp32646):

3. Select "Install from a list or specific location"

4. Click Next. Then select "Don't search, I will choose the driver to install"

6. Click Next and then click Have Disk.

7. Click Browse C:\sp36090 folder and select the .inf file (CpV30D5a) and click open and Continue with the onscreen instructions.

Conexant CX20548 Modem Driver for Microsoft Windows XP (sp36089.exe) (UAA Driver needed)

Download and install Conexant modem driver (sp36089). This will give error message and also will create a folder C:\swsetup\sp36089 which contains extracted driver files.
