After it is turned on, you need to push the power button again to begin playing....To shut down, hold the power button....
It's not the best player!

Out dated anyway...replace; cost between $9.99 to $14.99 (512) or $14.99 to $24.99 (1gig) or higher. Walmart or other dept stores..even walgreen have them on sale. Most cheap units cannot be repaired or cost to much to do so. Please forgive me if you don't agree. This is not a reflection on your ability to purchase a higher cost MP3..just a cost saving solution.

SOURCE: pearl wont do anything
#1. Stop pinching pennies and buy a used cheap ipod on ebay, I bought one myself for Xmas, guess how much. $45 with free shipping, now I'm enjoying it, with mp3 formatted songs I downloaded form youtube.
#2. Google 'RCA Pearl Firmware Upgrade', it will be hard to find, but when you do, download and install it. Note, this solves the problem, but not forever. So I would advise you to bookmark the site, or save the file for future use.
