while trying to re install windows xp I keep getting the message saying Hard Disk not installed, but BIOS shows the 20G hard disk installed.
What should I do? How can I get this HD formatted and Windows re installed? Thank you.

My laptop running XP Professional crashed the hard disk. Purchased a new disk and installed it in the computer. I have used Partition Magic to partition the hard disk NTSF and formatted it. That worked alright. I then attempted to use my recovery CD to reinstall the XP. It goes through the process but when it is time to install it on the disk it does not recognize the disk. It prints several lines about the missing partition.
I have then attempted to use the fdisk and format from W98. The disk is partitioned and formattted. When attempting to reinstall the XP from the recovery CD I get the same error response.
My computer is a P4 3.0 ghz processor Segar laptop.
Any suggestions?
