Not sure of the code..but sounds like the spin clutch that supplies friction to spin the drum at high speed is bad ..will need replaced.....if you are a DIYer you can buy clutches and not a hard repair..need to lay the washer on its side to get at it good luck..

SOURCE: grinding noise when drum rotates

may be a foreign object trapped in between the inner and outer tub. Major Disassembly required to split the outer tub. May also be the rear bearing in which case back half will have to be replaced.

SOURCE: grinding noise

The Neptune bearings are an interesting breed... Maytag wants you to replace the whole outer tub which includes the bearings installed for $180 or so. You can replace the bearings yourself. See www.tonytool.com to see how it is done. The tool costs $379 or so... but it is designed for the service tech. not the d.i.y.er. But watching the video can give you an idea of how to do it yourself. The bearings were available on www.neptunewaxmotor.com for about $35.00. You will also need the Maytag seal kit 12002022 to complete the job whether you decide to replace bearings or the outer tub.

SOURCE: Whirlpool Duet Washer Making Loud Grinding Noise

not nesseccarrily your pump, possible you have a rear bearing going bad, which will sound as if a helicopter is coming through your laundry room. ( noisy pump can be the issue , honestly a better and cheapre problem to have) in order to determine if its apump problem you can remove the lower access panel and unplug the pump then start the spinn cycle, if it still loud the pumpms not hte issue.

SOURCE: Maytag Performa - Loud Noises during Spin Cycle

This washer is JUNK!!!!!! We have the same washer (2 1/2 years old) and same problem. Tried to replace the bearing myself, no luck. So I called a repair man to come out and look at it. As soon as i told him the model number, they would'nt even come out. Very common problem for this washer. We are on our way to Sears to purchase a Kenmore.....GOOD LUCK

Fisher and Paykel front loader grinding noise

There could be a few possible reasons for the grinding noise in your Fisher and Paykel front loader washing machine. Here are a few things to check:
  1. Check the drum paddles: If the drum paddles are worn or broken, they can create a grinding noise during the wash cycle. Check to see if any of the paddles are loose or damaged.
  2. Check the drum bearings: The drum bearings are responsible for supporting the drum and allowing it to spin smoothly. If they are worn or damaged, they can cause a grinding noise. To check the bearings, try spinning the drum by hand. If it makes a grinding noise or feels rough, the bearings may need to be replaced.
  3. Check the drive belt: If the drive belt is loose or worn, it can cause a grinding noise. Check the belt for any signs of wear or damage, and make sure it is properly tensioned.
  4. Check the motor: A faulty motor can sometimes cause a grinding noise. If you suspect the motor is the problem, it's best to call a professional for assistance.
If none of these solutions fix the problem, it's best to call a professional to diagnose and repair the issue.

Bosch error E24 after 2 minutes into cycle, along with grinding noise.

Bearings or a belt have gone bad on the drum. After water fills and the agitator starts the drum begins to move and that's when you hear the grinding. error code stops the machine from further damage.

Grinding noise before spin cycle

Good Morning John,

I see that you are hearing a grinding noise before the spin cycle in your Frigidaire washer, model# GLET1031CS0. A certain amount of "grinding" or gear sounds are normal in a heavy-duty washer. If you notice that the grinding sound appears to be getting louder, I suggest contacting either the manufacturer or your local authorized technician for further assistance. Hope this is helpful.

I have a kenmore frontloading washer, during the spin cycle a noise like grinding can be heard, grinding can also be heard when turning drum by hand...help

its the drum bearings that support the inner drum, you need to replace these bearings, the problem with this is it was manufactured by frigidaire for kenmore and you cant just buy the inner bearing and lip seal as it comes with the outer rear half of the outer.tub where as with maytag neptune or whirlpool duet you can drive these bearin gs out and re-use the tub half, but you can't buy just the bearings and seal for a frigidaire front loader

Ok my LG front loading washer agitates but when it comes to spin it makes a very irritating high grinding noise and does not spin. There is no error displayed but that may be because I stop it before it...

I have a similar problem. The washer was showing error code UE, but would tumble when empty in test mode, but would not spin and made a grinding noise. The bolt that attaches the rotor to the motor was loose and the rotor was spinning on the spindle that rotates the drum. I tightened the bolt, and it spins when empty, but still gives a UE error code when full. Remove the rear cover and check the tightness of the center bolt.

Maytag neptune tl makes grinding sound and stops at 33 minutes in normal mode and at 24 minutes in quick wash mode

Hello djlampl,

With the lowest spin cycle setting I enter spin cycle in Quick Wash around the 21 minute mark. But first question is do you hear the grinding noise with the tumblers rotating during the wash/agitate cycle?

If you start a spin only cycle do you hear the grinding noise?

Does the washer error code out with an error code to the display? Codes such as dC, uC, Lr?, I assume the machine type is a FAV6800AW is that correct?

Any additional info will help in troubleshooting…..Rich

Assuming the machine type is a FAV6800A/FAV9800A here are some handy links;

Grinding Noise

Hi,

Check for drum bearing failure if your washing machine is noisy on the spin cycle. Drum bearing failure is common when the bearing seals start allowing water to enter. You can take the belt off and spin the drum by hand, and if the drum rumbles, replace the bearings.

Hope this helps.

God Bless.
