Letters sometimes won't work

By ladews on Nov 10, 2007

" "
I have a Dell computer and recently I have been having problems with my "s" and occasionally "a" and have had problems with "k" always small letters. If I keep pressing it sometimes it will start to work again, any ideas?

Thanks

- I'm sorry I did not mean to rate it not helpful, but if you have any other suggestions I would appreciate it before I go and get a new keyboard, I thought about taking the back off and air blowing it but don't know if it's a good idea or not?

Thank You for you time,
Laura

Same Problem

-   Microsoft 2000. Repeatedly loses key funtions altogether or intermittantly.
I've taken it apart several times and cleaned the "contacts" with isopropyl alcohol and then it works fine - for a while.
Apparently the conductive material they used in the manufacturing doesn't hold up well against normal air.-   gonewishing

I assume you have a desktop system with a plug in keyboard; if you have a laptop please tell me and I will type up instructions on how to clean the keyboard on laptops.
You might want to try cleaning out the keyboard.
Unplug the keyboard and hold it upside down; shake it gently and allow debris to fall (pressing the keys can help).
I would also either use compressed air or a small computer vacuum on the keyboard.
Let’s see if this working…if not we might need a through cleaning.

I did not know you tried to clean the keyboard already.
