Question about Cowon System Audio Players & Recorders
All audio files I have downloaded from my PC have occasional unpleasant sharp sounds like a needle being knocked on a record or a hard disc slip error, they seem to occur at similar places in tracks as one plays them. These sounds are not there when I play the original tracks on my PC.
I downloaded an updated firmware edition, this didn't alter what was happening.
emailed COWAN support, no answer.
emailed COWAN warranty, no answer
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

SOURCE: M2A-VM Audio problems
Asus does have Updated software for, Realtek ALC883 Audio Driver V126.96.36.19904 for Windows 2000/XP & 64bit XP (WHQL).
There is also an update for the Bios which includes an Update Realtek PXE ROM to V2.08 dated 2007/12/4. To look at these updates & others click the link below. The link will open to your board with Linux opened. Just click, Latest or All at the top of the window.
If the updates do not help remember your board is warranted for three years through Asus. You can call Asus Tech at: 812-282-2787. IL EST. It sounds to me that the onboard audio chip is going. I checked all FAQ's & found no complaints about the onboard sound.
Hope this helps & leads to a fix..

I had that problem with music files. Said corrupt file whenever I played in shuffle/all mode. I fixed it very simply. Here's how.
On your screen (not computer, just your 605), open Menu, then hit Settings. At the bottom is System. Open that. When you do, you'll see your system info. There's a button that says "Update ARC Library." Hit it. It will take a few seconds, but you'll see everything new you've loaded being updated quickly. After I did that, I had no more problems. Hope it helps on your music, and also any other problems. paul4laffs

I had this problem today whilst installing Sonar on my new laptop. It wasn't the click track. It was the playback glitching, clicking and rattling. I put the buffer size to maximium but it was still happening.
I got round it by downloading the latest version of ASIO4all (2.9 beta4) and installing it. I then opened Sonar 6, options, audio, advanced, then selecting ASIO in the driver mode drop down box. Then I closed Sonar and reopened it.
If you use one device for recording and playback it should work now but if like me you use seperate devices or if it doesn't work click, options, audio, general, ASIO panel, advanced options. Here you can select your inputs and outputs. Play around a bit here. Mine worked when the output of the playback device was selected and both the input and output of the recording device was selected.
ASIO4all sorted out my latency issues as well.
Hope it helped.
