What's the next step in rebooting a xoom after the screen with the robot horizontal and a red triangle on it? The menu that's supposed to come up doesn't appear.
I'm trying to reboot because when I turn it on, the homescreen doesn't show up. Instead a screen with a different wallpaper, the time, date, and a blinking cursor shows up.

Yikes, I'm sure this can be frustrating. I'm here to help however I can. Let's try to reboot your Xoom. While the device is powered on please press and hold the Power button and the Volume up button until the device starts to reboot. You can then let the buttons go. If that doesn't work, then I recommend restoring your device to factory settings using the external keys. I have provided a link with steps on how to perform the factory reset: How do reset my Motorola XOOM to original settings.

(if you continue to press volume down at that message, the message will cycle through "RSD, Fastboot, and back to Android Recovery. Hi there! Ignore the other answer, they're giving a generic Google search result. On the screen with the Android, press the power and both volume buttons all together in quick intervals until a new screen pops up. Use the volume keys to select Data Wipes/Factory Reset, then do the same for yes, then restart the tablet
Hello, Call support support for the tablet and see what they would do. If no help then call the manufacturer or the tablet and talk too the tech support. They will walk you thru trouble shooting and they will tell you what to do.
here you go >>
The instructions are as follows:
1. Turn off the tablet fully and make sure you have some charge in it (at least 20%).
2. Hold down the volume up and power button for about 12-15 seconds until the first android logo comes up. When this happens, relase both buttons.
3. Now you're presented with an android face up and a red triangle. This next step varies with the OS version the tablet currenly carries. For 4.0.4 users, hitting the volume up button 5 times followed by the volume down once brings you to the revoery menu. For 4.1 users, once you're at this screen, you will need to restart the tablet by holding down to power button for a few seconds and letting go as soon as you see the screen go blank. Personally, this did the trick for the reset because pressing combinations of keys did not work. 4. once you're in the recovery menu, use the volume down button to scroll wipe data/factory reset and press the power button to select.
5. Confirm by selecting "yes-delete all user data" on the next screen and pressing the power button.
6. Once you receive the message "data wipe complete" you can now select "reboot system now." Your tablet will now restart and guide you through the setup as if it were the first time being used.

The trick is sliding the display lock switch at the exact right moment, otherwise it will not engage. Here are the steps that have worked for my self and several other Xoom FE owners:
1. Power off the unit - if not already
2. Hold down the "Down" volume button at the same time you hold down the power button for 3-5 seconds.
3. While still holding down the "Down" volume button, release the power button and toggle the display lock slide a couple of times (located next to the volume controls).
4. The display should now show "Booting Recovery Kernel Image" and then the Android Robot will be displayed when the unit is in the rebooting phase.
5. Since the device is being Reset (erased and re-imaged), it is normal to see "Please wait for pre-load data" and this process takes about 6-8 minutes. The Xoom FE is now being Factory Restored to the original image.
