Re: i accidentally disabled my display

Press and hold the Fn key, then press F8. See if this brings up a list of options and select the "Display only" option.

Keyboard keys wont type. used on screen keyboard to type this. any suggestions?

You might have "sticky keys" so try this:
When sticky keys are enabled, users can access functions that require pressing multiple modifier keys such as "Ctrl," "Alt" and "Shift" at once by pressing one button at a time. If sticky keys are enabled, it is possible to accidentally turn them on at an unwanted time. After turning off the sticky keys, disable the feature to prevent them from accidentally turning on again.

    • Press the "Shift" button five times in a row to turn off sticky keys.

    • Open the "Start" menu and then click "Control Panel."

    • Click "Ease of Access Center" from within the Control Panel window.

    • Click "Make The Keyboard Easier To Use" from within the Ease of Access Center window.

    • Remove the check-mark beside "Turn On Sticky Keys" to prevent sticky keys from being accidentally turned on.

    • Click "Apply" to save your changes and then click "OK" to close the window.
Hope this helps. Good Luck!

If you have a function button try holding it down and pressing F2, possibly the screen has been accidentally switched off.

My samaung notebook screen does not show coler it seems red points on home screen

If the screen is mainly red, you need to replace the LCD display panel. First! hook a spare monitor to the video output usually on the back, if picture okay! the above mentioned needs to be changed, but if both show the same symptom it is the video graphics card that is the problem normally built into the motherboard.

I accidentally disabled my built in microphone. where do i find it to reinstall it?

Hi Hannah,This is the only G6 that I know of:HP Pavilion G6 1038tx Try this first: Click "Start"~then click "Control Panel"~Once it loads Double-click the "Sound" icon options. This loads a new, smaller window with all of the sound options. Select "Input" & then click the available hardware pull-down window~Choose "Internal Microphone" click Apply.

Sony Viao Laptop PCG6W3L showing white screen on switching on. pls suggest

When you power up the computer press F1 or F2 or DEL or ALT+F2 key to enter in bios then load optimal defaults settings. Then save settings also make sure your harddrive is recognized in bios if it is not show in main menu then disable SATA option then save settings.
But if you are not able to see any display and your laptop look like hangup when power up then opoen back cover of laptop then reattach the RAM memory into it's position pull cmos cell from motheboard for 10 minutes then put it into it's position then check.
If you are able to see windows logo then white screen thjen when you power up the computer press F8 key then enter in enable vga mode then display settings and change screen resolution to 1024*768 .
But if you are unable enter i enable vga mode too then you need windows disk to repair windows.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.

I was playing online games on my sony vaio. Suddenly I got blue lines on the screen and the laptop stopped responding. So I tried restarting the laptop but I get blue thin vertical lines before the laptop...

Blue thin lines before it boots will rule out an operating system or driver fault. So it would appear something in the machine has failed.
Do you have a VGA monitor you can connect to it and see whether it shows the fault? This will show that if the fault also shows on the external monitor, it is likely an electronic fault on the main board, whereas if it works on the external monitor but not on the built-in monitor, my guess would be the cable that goes from the main board up through the hinge of the screen into it, or a connector, or an actual fault with the LCD display.
Windows booting normally once the display drivers were disabled indicates to me that Windows is no longer detecting the faulty display and therefore boots normally - possibly pointing to failed electronics in some way. It could even be corrupt BIOS that controls the video or something along these lines, though that's unlikely.
Good luck, either way it sounds like it's off to a computer repair shop. Is it under warranty?
